89th Troop Command
89th Troop Command is the Brigade level command element for nearly all of the Colorado units that are not artillery.
Battalion headquarters are in direct control of the companies.
89th Troop Command, a TDA unit, is based out of the Denver/Globeville armory.
This brigade consists of Combat, Combat Support and Combat Service Support units - which are controlled by one of four battalions:
- 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), located in Watkins, has over 400 personnel that train in Special Operations.
- 1st Battalion, 89th Troop Command is the higher headquarters for Military Police, Signal, Public Affairs and the Army Band. Located at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.
- 2nd Battalion, 89th Troop Command, in the city of Pueblo, is responsible for overseeing Engineers (including the Firefighter Team), Maintenance, and an Area Support Medical Company.
- COARNG Aviation Command oversees all the helicopter units in the state. They are located at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.
