2nd Battalion, 89th Troop Command
The 2nd Battalion of 89th Troop Command is a Headquarters detachment whose mission is to support the 3 separate units in their charge. It operates out of the Pueblo armory and direct the Troop Command units located in southern Colorado.
The immediate higher headquarters for 2nd Battalion is 89th Troop Command.
The 3650th Maintenance Company, located at Longmont, CO, and with a Detachment in Durango, is a non-divisional maintenance company. As a result, the 3650th works on numerous types of equipment including tanks, howitzers, trucks, weapons and even computers and radio-telecommunications systems. It also operates a repair part section (Class IX) and even does canvas and leather repair. The unit deployed to Germany for three weeks supporting a real-world mission; rebuilding 6.2 liter engines. Typically, the 3650th is the combat support maintenance source for the Colorado Army National Guard.
The 947th Engineer Company, based out of Pueblo Army Chemical Depot (with two detachments - in Trinidad and Cortez), has the mission of horizontal construction support. The unit mainly creates roads, ditches and trails for military missions. The 947th also oversees, and provides support for, the 1157th Firefighter unit, also at the Pueblo Chemical Depot. The 1157th is a small team of garrison-based firefighters consisting of two fire truck sections.
Charlie Company of the 109th Medical Battalion is an Area Support medical unit in Montrose, CO. Its mission is to provide emergency medical treatment, sick call, and ground ambulance evacuation of troops. The unit is consists of a variety of doctors, physician assistants, licensed practical nurses and medics (EMTs) as well as the usual mix of cooks, maintenance and NBC specialists.
