31st Rear Operations Center

The mission of the 31st Read Operations Center is to plan, coordinate, and direct the rear operations of echelons above corps, which includes movement, control, and sustainment operations within the area of responsibility assigned to the area support group by the theater army area command.

The 31st Rear Operations Center was originally organized in the 1890s in the Mississippi National Guard at Jackson as Company B, 3d Infantry Regiment. It was mustered into Federal service between 16-26 May 1898 at Jackson as Company F, 1st Mississippi Volunteer Infantry, and mustered out of Federal service on 20 December 1898 at Columbia, TN. It was reorganized in the spring of 1899 at Jackson as Company F, 1st Infantry Regiment.

The unit was redsignated around 1900 as Company F, 3d Infantry Regiment; in 1905 as Company F, 1st Infantry Regiment; in April 1906 as Company F, 2d Infantry Regiment; and around 1910 as Company F, 3d Infantry Regiment. It was subsequently reorganized and redesignated on 20 May 1914 as Company F, 4th Independent Battalion of Infantry and on 20 June 1916 as Company F, 1st Infantry, and was then mustered into Federal service at Jackson. It was mustered out of Federal service on 27 March 1917 at Jackson.

The unit was mustered into Federal service on 28 March at Jackson and drafted into Federal service on 5 August 1917. It was reorganized and redesignated on 27 September 1917 as Company F, 155th Infantry, an element of the 39th Division before being demobilized on 23 January 1919 at Camp Beauregard, LA. It was reorganized and Federally recognized on 15 May 1921 in Mississippi National Guard at Jackson as Company D, 1st Infantry before being redesignated on 14 December 1921 as Company D, 155th Infantry, an element of the 39th Division. The 155th Infantry relieved 1 July 1923 from assignment to the 39th Division and assigned to the 31st Division. It was redesignated on 26 February 1925 as Company B, 155th Infantry.

The unit was redesignated on 1 October 1939 as Company F, 155th Infantry and inducted into Federal service on 25 November 1940 at Jackson. It inactivated on 12 December 1945 at Camp Stoneman, CA.

Reorganized and Federally recognized on 16 December 1946 at Jackson as Headquarters Company, 155th Infantry, it was ordered into Federal service on 16 January 1951 at Jackson.

Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry (NGVS), was organized and Federally recognized on 19 January 1953 at Jackson. It was released on 15 June 1954 from active Federal service and reverted to State control. It was concurrently redesignated as Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry, and Federal recognition was withdrawn from Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry (NGVS).

It consolidated on 1 May 1959 with Company C, 155th Infantry, and the consolidated unit was reorganized and redesignated as Headquarters Company (Mississippi Part), 31st Infantry Division. It was ordered into active Federal service on 30 September 1962 at Jackson; and was released on 23 October 1962 from active Federal service at which point it reverted to State control.

The unit consolidated on 15 February 1968 with Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 631st Artillery Group, and the 31st Administrative Company (Mississippi Part), and the personnel transferred to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Dixie Forward Emergency Operating Headquarters, Mississippi Army National Guard. The personnel transferred on 1 February 1972 to the 31st Support Center.
