3-323rd Regiment

During pre mobilization, the 3d Battalion, 323d Regiment, augments Ft Jackson Basic Combat Training (BCT) capabilities through Drill Sergeant Partnership Programs and Annual Training in Echo Company configuration while preparing for post mobilization missions. On order, under post mobilization conditions, and in the event that the 1st Brigade (BCT) is mobilized, the 3rd Battalion (BCT) 323d Regiment will come under the command of the 2d Brigade (BCT), and will prepare to conduct basic combat training as directed by HQs 2d Brigade (BCT).

The unit was constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as 323d Infantry, an element of the 81st Division. It was organized 29 August 1917, at Camp Jackson, SC. Demobilized 17 - 30 June 1919, at Camp Lee, VA; Camp Jackson, SC; Camp Gordon, GA, Camp Upton, NY; and Camp Dix, NJ. The unit was reconstituted 24 June 1921, allotted to the Organized Reserves, and organized December 1921 at Knoxville, Tn, as an element of the 81st Division.

The unit was ordered into active military service at Camp Rucker, AL, 15 June 1942. It was later inactivated 20 January 1946, at Hirosaki, Japan. It was activated 6 November - 19 December 1946, with Headquarters at Clemson, SC. The unit was relieved from assignment to 81st Infantry Division and assigned to the 108th Infantry Division, 1 March 1952. The unit was resignated and reorganized 30 April 1959 as 323d Regiment (Basic Combat Training); an element of the 108th Division (Training).
