247th Quartermaster Battalion
The 247th Quartermaster Battalion (Petroleum Supply) mobilizes and deploys to Ft. Drum, NY. On order 247th QM BN (PS) deploys to Southwest Asia. Upon receipt of personnel and equipment, 247th QM BN (PS) moves to designated area of operations and directs petroleum supply.
The 247th Quartermaster Battalion (PS) was constituted 12 April 1942 in the Army of the United States as the 247th Quartermaster Battalion. Activated 1 June 1942 at the New Orleans Port of Embarkation, Louisiana, as the 247th Quartermaster Service Battalion. Battalion broken up 20 September 1943 and its elements reorganized and redesignated as follows: Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 247th Quartermaster Battalion (Companies A, B, C, and D as the 3145th, 3146th, 3147th, and 3148th Quartermaster Companies, respectively - hereafter separate lineages). Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 247th Quartermaster Battalion, inactivated 25 January 1946 in the Philippine Islands.
Redesignated 14 December 1962 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 247th Quartermaster Battalion, and allotted to the Army Reserve (organic elements concurrently constituted). Battalion activated 7 January 1963 with Headquarters at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Inactivated 31 January 1968 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
