1-321st Regiment

During pre mobilization, the 1st Battalion, 321st Regiment, augments Ft Jackson Basic Combat Training (BCT) capabilities through Drill Sergeant Partnership Programs and Annual Training in Echo Company configuration while preparing for post mobilization missions. On order, under post mobilization conditions, this unit will conduct Individual Ready Reserve Refresher Training under the command and control of the 1st Brigade (BCT), our regular peacetime trace.

The unit was constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as 323d Infantry, an element of the 81st Division. It was organized 29 August 1917, at Camp Jackson, SC. Demobilized 28 June 1919, at Camp Lee, VA. It was later reconstituted 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as the 321st Infantry, assigned to the Fourth Corps Area, and organized in March 1922 at Raleigh, NC, as an element of the 81st Division.

The unit was ordered into active military service at Camp Rucker, AL, 15 June 1942. It was inactivated 20 January 1946, at Hirosaki, Japan. It was later activated 9 December 1946, with Headquarters at Raleigh, NC.

the unit was relieved from assignment to 81st Infantry Division and assigned to the 108th Infantry Division, 1 March 1952. It was redesignated and reorganized 30 April 1959 as 321st Regiment (Basic Combat Training); with headquarters in Columbia, SC, as an element of the 108th Division (Training). It was later activated as the 1st Battalion, 321st Regiment, Columbia, SC on 31 January 1968.
