- Sweeping Sanctions on Russia's Energy Sector US Dept. of State 10 Jan 2025 -- The United States is imposing sanctions today on more than 200 entities and individuals involved in Russia's energy sector and identifying more than 180 vessels as blocked property.
- Sanctions to Degrade Russia's Energy Sector US Dept. of State 10 Jan 2025 -- Today, the United States is sanctioning major targets in Russia's energy sector, the primary source of revenue fueling Russia's war against Ukraine. The Department of State is imposing sanctions on nearly 80 individuals and entities. Concurrently, the Department of the Treasury is designating more than 150 individuals and entities and individuals and identifying 183 vessels as blocked property. - Treasury Intensifies Sanctions Against Russia by Targeting Russia's Oil Production and Exports US Treasury 10 Jan 2025 -- Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury took sweeping action to fulfill the G7 commitment to reduce Russian revenues from energy, including blocking two major Russian oil producers. Today's actions also impose sanctions on an unprecedented number of oil-carrying vessels, many of which are part of the "shadow fleet," opaque traders of Russian oil, Russia-based oilfield service providers, and Russian energy officials. Today's actions are underpinned by the issuance of a new determination that authorizes sanctions pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 14024 against persons operating or having operated in the energy sector of the Russian Federation economy. These actions substantially increase the sanctions risks associated with the Russian oil trade.
