- AIR FORCE RECEIVES FIRST ARROW MISSILE ISRAEL LINE NOVEMBER 30, 1998 -- A symbolic delivery of the Arrow 2 anti-missile missile to the Israel Air Force and Defense Ministry took place on Sunday during a ceremony at the Israel Aircraft Industries plant producing the missile.
- DEFENSE MINISTRY TO DEVELOP PILOTLESS ANTI-MISSILE PLANE ISRAEL LINE November 5, 1998 -- The Ministry of Defense has decided to move ahead with plans to develop a missile-bearing pilotless plane capable of flying at 50,000 feet and attacking long-range missiles upon their launch, rather than during their re-entry as with the Arrow anti-missile missile. The cost for the new plane, dubbed the HA-10, is expected to reach more than $2 billion.

- Workers with Cancer Charge Dimona Nuclear Plant Responsible (IsraelWire) Wednesday, October 28, 1998 -- Eight employees from the Dimona Nuclear Energy Research Facility who have cancer, have filed a claim in the Beersheba Labor Court, after the National Insurance (Bituach Leumi) refused to recognize their illness as work-related.
- MORDECHAI WARNS IRAN AGAINST THREATENING ISRAEL
ISRAEL LINE SEPTEMBER 28, 1998 -- Responding to a statement by Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani, Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai warned Iran not to threaten Israel. Shamkhani had said Iran would fire missiles at Israel if it were to attack the nuclear reactor in southern Iran. Arrow will be partially operational by the end of 1999, at which point it will have interception capabilities. However, it will not be fully operational until 2005.
- Jordan Monitoring Dimona Nuclear Facility (IsraelWire) Sunday, September 27, 1998 -- After reports in the local press last week claimed that Israel's nuclear reactor in the Negev desert was posing a threat of radioactivity in the region, Jordanian officials Friday said daily tests "have not found any abnormal nuclear radioactivity" in Jordan.

ISRAEL LINE SEPTEMBER 15, 1998 -- Israel completed the first successful comprehensive test of the Arrow-2 anti-missile missile. The missile was launched from the Israel Air Force field at Palmachim, destroying a simulated target "acquired" by the Arrow's fire-control radar system, code-named "Green Pine."
