- IRAQ / WRAP VOA 10 Oct 2004 -- At least 18 people, including an American soldier, were killed following two car bombings in Baghdad. The attacks occurred while Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld made a surprise visit to Iraq to speak with military leaders and U.S. Marines.
- First Infantry Division Soldiers Detain Seven After Finding Cache MNF-I/MNC-I 10 Oct 2004 -- First Infantry Division soldiers from Task Force 1-77 detained seven anti-Iraqi force members near Balad at about 1:30 p.m. on October 9.
- Two Car Bombs Detonate in Eastern Baghdad MNF-I/MNC-I 10 Oct 2004 -- Two vehicle-borne explosive devices detonated in eastern Baghdad on Oct. 10. The first blast targeted a Multi-National Force convoy about 7:15 a.m. in eastern Baghdad, wounding one Task Force Baghdad Soldier.
- Iraqis, Marines Maintain Pressure on Insurgents MNF-I/MNC-I 10 Oct 2004 -- Iraqi Security Forces and the elements of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit continued their surge in Northern Babil province today, rounding up 15 more suspected insurgents and seizing additional enemy weapons.

- 10,000 Baghdad Residents Get Power MNF-I/MNC-I 09 Oct 2004 -- An 8th Engineer Battalion project to provide electricity to 10,000 residents of three Zaphernia district neighborhoods was officially completed Oct. 2. The project is a part of the 1st Cavalry Division's ongoing effort to improve quality of living and safety in the Iraqi capital.

- Iraq: Decapitation Of British Hostage Shown On Internet RFE/RL 10 Oct 2004 -- An Islamist website has posted a video showing the beheading of Kenneth Bigley, a British man taken hostage in Iraq. The man is seen pleading to British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The video appeared two days after Bigley's family reported it had proof that he was dead.
