Indian airbases will undergo security checks after a militant attack that killed at least seven security personnel earlier this year, Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar said Saturday.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) – A group of gunmen in army fatigues stormed the Pathankot airbase in the Punjab region near the border with Pakistan on January 2, prompting India to request action from neighboring Pakistan.

'We can't tolerate any such type of attacks. Nation has crossed the limit to tolerate such attacks,' Parrikar said. 'We must do some concrete actions and it will be reflected in the days to come.'

Speaking at a media interaction in Jaipur, in the neighboring state of Rajasthan, Parrikar said all Indian airbases have been requested to conduct security audits by base commanders.

'We have told them to find out the areas from where security could be breached and we have asked them to block these areas. We are also classifying airbases according to their sensitivity,' he said.

The Indian Foreign Ministry called on Pakistan to deliver 'prompt and decisive action' based on the evidence provided to it by India about the terror attack, which suggests that the assailants were Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed militants.
