Su-24 FENCER (SUKHOI) - T6-1 TSRski Prototype
Design of the T-6 began in 1965. The designers made the most experience in the development of the aircraft C-6 and test flying laboratory T 58VD. The layout of the first embodiment of the T-6 bombers largely repeated T 58VD- delta wing of small aspect ratio, combined propulsion system: two main engines in the rear fuselage, plus the lift motor near the center of mass of the aircraft.
The first prototype, designated T6-1, built by the summer of 1967. The propulsion system of the aircraft used two new propulsion engine P-27F2-300 with afterburner thrust of 7,800 kg and lifting four RD-36-35 thrust of 2350 kg. Lift engines were installed in the fuselage tilted forward in pairs on both sides of the frame mounting power the main landing gear. In the rear fuselage between the compartments of the main engines was mounted brake parachute container, and on the sides of the nozzles - the brake pads. The T-6 was designed by the new cabin crew, in which the pilot and the navigator-operator were located sid-by-side (like the F-111).
The aircraft was configured with a delta wing with a break at the front edge, as the interceptor Su-15, the eleventh and later series. Installed along the axis of the fuselage stabilizer iwa made integrally with the rotary drive independent of each console. On T6-1 first applied for non-traditional keel Sukhoi form - with a large elongation and contraction.
The fuselage was made of three reference circuit with a controlled nose bar. All landing gear mounted on the fuselage and had twin wheels, allowing the aircraft to operate from unpaved runways. The bomber had six weapons hardpoints, two ventral and four wing. Take-off weight of the aircraft was 26000 kg. On 02 July 1967 chief pilot V.S.Ilyushin was first raised in the air the new prototype bomber.
The T6-1 was planned to show at the air show in Domodedovo, but because of the lack of aircraft on display it was refused. During 1967-68, Test Pilot E.S.Solovyov conducted in-depth Test of the new aircraft.
During the tests in 1968, P-27f2-300 engines were replaced by more powerful AL-21F engines with afterburning thrust of 11,200 kg. Under these engines modified the rear fuselage: changed its design and external contours. With the new power plant was supposed to significantly improve flight characteristics tactical bomber. To improve directional stability wingtips bent back down and found ventral aerodynamic ridges. Brake pads have been dismantled. At the request of the developers changed the shape of the radar radio transparent nose fairing - he became shorter (the speed characteristics have not deteriorated).
However, due to changes in the requirements for the Air Force bombers, T6-1 work soon ceased and EDO concentrate on the development of the bomber with variable sweep wing. T6-1 later used as a flying laboratory for testing of systems and equipment designed bomber.
