Sukhoi S-62/BAS-62 HALE UAV
Sukhoi Design Bureau is a high-tech and versatile company, and therefore, in addition to such remarkable aerial combat vehicles as the Su-30SM, Su-34, Su-35S and T-50, it is already closely working on the design of the BAS-62 unmanned aircraft system , which should serve both the civilian and military sectors.
BAS-62 (Probe-2) is a Russian multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. The unmanned aerial vehicle model BAS-62, also referred to as the Probe-2, is positioned today as a research aircraft designed for monitoring, research, observation and reconnaissance flights for civilian purposes. Despite the fact that this device had high efficiency of use, the aircraft did not receive proper support.
The BAS-62 high-altitude dronecreated in the Sukhoi Design Bureau is similar to the Chinese Shenying UAV : the same two-fuselage scheme, the empennage carried forward, the huge wingspan. According to many characteristics, the Russian car should surpass the American Global Hawk, while its electronic filling is much trickier than the Divine Eagle and the Global Hawk. Along with low-frequency radars, the Russian UAV is equipped with an electronic warfare system that allows you to see the enemy’s aircraft while remaining invisible.
BAS-62 is a prospective unmanned aviation system proposed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. BAS-62 solves an extremely wide range of tasks. It is capable of detecting airborne, surface and ground objects of various classes (with real-time transmission of information). On-board equipment allows for aerial photography (mapping), inspection of compliance with contractual regimes under the Open Skies program , monitoring of hydro-meteorological conditions, monitoring of actively emitting objects, monitoring of power lines.
On the images of digital sketches, drawings, as well as photographs of miniature models presented by the Stealth Mashines online resource (Paralay.com), the primary appearance of the UAV-DRLO S-62 is visible with a radar system installed on the fuselage consisting of three AFAR canvases (triangular mushroom) with viewing angles of up to 120 degrees on each canvas. Given that this radar has a practically constant all-round overview, and the update period for information about the air situation is minimal, it is clear that the new UAV will be more advanced than the previous modification of the A-50U. The UAV will be more compact and economical, it will have a practical ceiling of 19,000 m, a flight duration of 24 hours or more, a radius of action when performing a radar patrol - 6,500 km, significantly less EPR and infrared visibility.
“The deeply integrated electronic warfare equipment provides not only the electromagnetic sphere that protects the aircraft from anti-aircraft missiles, but also hides it from radar,” said Vladimir Mikheev, first deputy head of the Radioelectronic Technologies concern, to the Flightglobal portal. Thus, the new Russian drone will be able to detect an American aircraft built by stealth technology, without being noticed at the same time. This eight-ton machine is capable of being in the patrol area for 24 hours (and in the future - more) at a twenty-kilometer height. The possibility of refueling in the air is also being considered.
Cruising speed S-62 - 400 km / h, maximum - 500 km / h [some sources report a maximum flight speed of 750 km / h]. As a power plant used RDD-1700 turbojet engine (being created by the State Unitary Enterprise "Plant named after V.Ya. Klimov" to equip mass-type aircraft such as MiG-AT and Yak-130). The power part of the BAS-62 model unmanned aerial vehicle is represented by two jet engines that can accelerate the device to maximum effective range of missions of 6500 kilometers, while the maximum flight altitude of the drone is 19 kilometers.
