Il-10 attack aircraft Modifications
IL-10 - basic model, double armored attack aircraft. While maintaining the overall concept of the IL-2, significantly different new design solutions. The aircraft was created at the end of 1943 as a variant of the IL-1 single-seat armored fighter. When you start the series received a new designation IL-10. All-metal construction, cockpit fully armored. In August 1944, it was decided to launch the IL-10 in a series at two plants. In October, the aircraft began to enter service.
IL-10 gun (1945) - modification of the IL-10 with reinforced artillery weapons. On the plane they installed four new NS-23 wing cannons (150 shells each). They were almost two times lighter than standard VY cannons and had 1.6 times less return. With the simultaneous automatic firing of four guns, the recoil force did not affect the stability of the aircraft and the aiming of shooting. UBK machine gun was replaced with a gun mount BT-20 (150 shells). The set of attack weapons included cumulative bombs PTAB and armored-piercing missiles RBS-132. It was built serially until 1947.
The IL-10M aircraft was the last modification of the IL-10, developed in the early 1950s. Since 1951, an improved version of the IL-10M was produced, which was distinguished: a larger area wing with rectangular tips, new HP-23 guns, an electrified turret, a longer range and better handling. The prototype IL-10M was equipped with completely new wings with guns HP-23, which replaced the guns NS-23KM. The aircraft had a windscreen wiper on the windshield of the cockpit visor. IL-10M was built in small quantities.
The IL-10 of this type became a model for the licensed B-33 produced in Czechoslovakia, although additional modifications were made there, such as the antenna mast on the visor of the cockpit.
IL-10 (IL-10UT) - a training option. The cockpit arrow is enlarged and converted into an instructor's cabin with a second control. Machine guns removed. Two NS-23 cannons, guides for two RS shells and two bomb racks, were left for practicing assault operations. The flight qualities remained the same as those of the serial IL-10. In 1945, released a small series. Together with the IL-10 in 1945, its training version was also produced in a small amount - the IL-10U (another designation UIL-10), which, apart from a completely new rear cockpit and a canceled booking, was not different from a standard combat aircraft (except for the traditional dismantling of a part of weapons in such a situation).
IL-16 - lightweight attack aircraft. Development began in the summer of 1944 after the completion of IL-10 tests. The aim of the project was to significantly improve the speed and maneuverability characteristics for offensive air combat. According to the booking scheme and the constructive layout is similar to IL-10. The reduction of the geometric dimensions, as well as the thickness and area of ??the reservation made it possible to reduce the flight weight of the machine by 1,300 kg. In combination with the more powerful AM-4ZNV liquid-cooling engine (2,300 hp) with a four-blade propeller, according to calculations, this should have ensured a maximum speed of 625 km / h. Armament: two NS-23 cannons (140 shells each), two ShKAS machine guns (700 rounds), a B-20 cannon (150 shells), ten AG-2 air grenades, 400-500 kg of bombs.
Despite the fact that the IL-16 was superior to the IL-10 in many respects, because of the imperfection of the engine, as well as due to the end of the war, the tests were not completed and the work on the aircraft stopped.
