1L122 Garmon / HarmoniumThe Radioelectronic Technologies concern supplied the Russian military with last year’s defense order small-sized Garmon radars previously tested at the Sochi Olympics. Nizhny Novgorod Frunze NGO, a member of KRET, delivered Garmon mobile small-sized radars, which have already been successfully tested during the Olympic Games in Sochi. Since around 2010 the army has operates a development NNIIRT — portable three-coordinate radar UHF waves 1L122 "Accordion". Designed to determine the air situation in the area of the tactical level. Detects planes, helicopters and drones, determines their coordinates and sends the information to the complexes of automated control systems for air defense. Can also be used for illumination purposes when you hover over them guided munitions.

It is available in two versions: portable (1L122-E1) and mobile on a tracked chassis (1L122-E2). Various modifications have a range of 40 km and 80 km. a Portable modification (three containers of 30 kg each) may secretly install close to the enemy positions. Due to the fact that the antenna radiated the signal has little power, radar difficult to detect by technical means of the enemy.

The unfolding of the station takes 5 minutes. A tripod is installed on the antenna array sizes of 120x80 cm Connecting the electronic unit and the power supply unit provides power of 800 watts. “Garmon” / "Harmonium" / "Accordion", weight of which is minimized for possible hand-carry, nevertheless, has a sufficiently high performance. Range — 40 km, the maximum height of target detection — 10 km. Mobile version of the stations based on the tracked amphibious armored personnel carrier MT-LBU. Due to the larger antenna size and power range and height of targets was doubled to 80 km and 20 km, respectively.

Air and missile defense involve not only specific air defense system, equipped with its own radar "vision". There is a single network detection of air threats, enemy aircraft on the distant approaches, passing information about them in missile divisions. So the gunners have the time to prepare to meet the enemy. That is, if the target detection range, say, zrpk "Carapace-C1" is 40 km, it does not mean that the calculation of the complex does not know what is going on at a greater distance. And that the missile or low-flying plane suddenly emerges from obscurity.

The station can be used as a source of radar information about the air situation by the air defense units of the Ground Forces and to support flights of its aircraft at field and temporary airfields. The radar provides the detection, determination of coordinates and tracking of various air objects (aircraft, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles), the determination of their nationality and the automatic issuance of track information to the complexes of automated control systems.

The structure of the 1L122 type radar includes an antenna-hardware post (antenna array, a container with receiving and transmitting equipment, a ground radio interrogator, a rotary support device), a technical post (equipment for processing information, controlling and displaying the air situation, data transmission, a radio station of type P- 168-0.1 UM1E, satellite navigation equipment), an autonomous power supply unit.

At the request of the customer, the station can be performed in two versions. The first (1L122-1E) is a portable or mounted on a movable radar chassis, the second is a radar on a movable chassis with an increased field of view. Both versions of the station operate in the operating frequency range L.

The 1L122-1E (1L122-2E) radar makes it possible to detect the indicated types of air targets flying at a speed of up to 700 m / s at a range of 1-40 (1-80) km in a height range of at least 10 (20) km. In the detection zone of the station 360 deg. in azimuth and -5 (0) - +45 (60) degrees. in elevation, the mean square errors of determining the coordinates of a single target with an effective dispersion area (EPR) of 1 square m. under interference do not exceed 100 m in range, 0.5 (0.3) and 1.5 (1.0) degrees. in azimuth and elevation, respectively.

The data update rate for the 1L122-1E and 1L122-2E radars can be 2 (4) or 4 (10) s. respectively. The station is protected from local (55 dB), active noise (18 dB) and passive (40 dB) interference, which is quite high for a radar of this class. With a mass of 150 (900) kg the radar 1L122-1E (1L122-2E) has a fairly low power consumption, not exceeding 800 (5000) W, the power is supplied from a DC source with a voltage of 22-30 V. The dimensions of the antenna radar of both versions are 1200 x 800 mm.

As the main technical features of the radar, it should be noted automatic topographic reference to the terrain and orientation relative to the north using the GLONASS and GPS satellite navigation systems, automatic operation with minimal attendance, as well as long and safe stay of personnel in the immediate vicinity of the station, which is due to low power level of the probing signal, safe for personnel.

Such overall dimensions of the station ensure its prompt delivery to destinations, including in difficult and mountainous terrain, as well as the use of special packaging that protects the equipment from damage during transportation.
