Due to sanctions, France refused to supply aircraft carriers. Now Russia itself is building large landing ships according to project 11711. The first of them, Ivan Gren, is already in operation.

Representatives of the family of combat vehicles for the Marine Corps must operate in the most difficult climatic conditions: from Arctic ice to desert terrain. A mandatory requirement is trouble-free operation at temperatures from +50 to 50 degrees. It is expected that the entire line of new equipment will go into service until 2025. New infantry fighting vehicles for the "black berets" will carry out the so-called over-horizon landing. During it, landing and support ships should be kept outside the zone of influence of enemy fire weapons at a distance of more than 20 km from the coast.

This tactic will allow forces not to endanger expensive ships. During the landing, infantry fighting vehicles should approach the coast at maximum speed and land on it, capturing a bridgehead. It is necessary in order to bring heavier equipment to the shore with the help of landing ships: tanks, artillery and air defense systems.

The dimensions of the new vehicles will be much larger than the current BMP-2, BMP-3 and BTR-80, and their mass will be about 30 tons (the weight of armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles currently in service with the marine corps does not exceed 17 tons). In order to fully provide the landing force with fire, fight tanks and helicopters, the machine must accommodate at least 15 fighters with full-time weapons and equipment, and also have powerful artillery weapons: mortars, automatic grenade launchers, portable anti-aircraft missile systems and large-caliber machine guns.

For the first time, the question of creating a line of heavy combat vehicles for marines was raised in 2013 after the purchase of the French Mistral. But due to sanctions, France refused to supply aircraft carriers, and the development of equipment was postponed indefinitely.

Now the situation has changed - in Russia began to build large landing ships (BDK) project 11711. The first of them, "Ivan Gren", is already in operation. At the second, "Petra Morgunov", factory tests began. Two more are under construction. In addition, the Navy decided on the parameters of the first Russian universal landing ships, which are planned to be laid in the Crimea in 2020. They will be able to carry more than 20 helicopters, receive a docking chamber for landing boats and will be able to carry heavy armored vehicles and up to two reinforced marines with a total of about 900 people.

One of the options for the development of the BMP concept will be the creation of a whole family of combat and support vehicles of the Marine Corps. It will include a KShM, an air defense combat vehicle, a self-propelled anti-aircraft missile launcher and other vehicles. The Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation is the largest multidisciplinary engineering complex in Russia with an advanced scientific, intellectual and industrial base, and the only domestic manufacturer of modern tanks.

The media reported on the creation of a special transport and combat armored vehicle for the marines of the Russian Navy back in April 2018. It was noted that the weapons of the prospective BMP are planned to be installed identical to the modernized BMP-3, which can provide effective fire support to the marines to the depth of the battalion's combat mission.

On October 7, 2011, Russian media reported that the Russian Navy had ordered the development of a specialized tracked amphibious assault vehicle for the naval infantry forces - a Maritime Combat Platform Project / Unified Battle Platform. One of the main requirements for the Navy BMP is increased seaworthiness. The IBE is engaged in the development of KB "Kurganmashzavod" (Kurgan). When creating a BMP, it will be possible to use the results of the BMP-3. Presumably the development of the fleet BMP will be completed by 2015-2016.

The bulletin of the Russian military-industrial complex "Bastion" reported that, together with the project "BMMP Platform", the probability of designing a naval armored personnel carrier based on the updated Armata chassis is being considered. However, there were no details. In the information space, you can find only a few data that, for the needs of the fleet, they can alter the land version of the BMP T-15 or even build the PTS-A. It should be noted that the Armata tank chassis belongs to the class of heavy platforms, and this somewhat complicates the creation of combat vehicles with enhanced floating properties. The laws of physics can not be fooled. The BMMP should be designed on the basis of a light or medium platform.

As early as 2013, the first reports appeared about the plans of the Ministry of Defense for the creation of a specialized Maritime Combat Platform Project armored vehicle for the marines, fully complying with its special requirements. information about the future BMPP (marines combat vehicle) slipped into the Russian media in the summer of 2013, when an announcement of a competition for research in this area appeared on the state procurement website.

It is 9 meters long, 3.4 meters wide and 2.94 meters high with a clearance of 450 millimeters. The fighting machine is equipped with a water-jet engine, a wheeled chassis and a special form of a transformable hull, which will reduce the hydrodynamic resistance. As for the engine, it is gas turbine and has a capacity of 1225 hp. This type of engine has been used on the T-80 tank, which has long been well proven. When driving on land, BMMP can reach a maximum speed of 55 km / h, and at sea, with a wave of 2 points and a height of 75 cm, it is 37 km / h. Amphibian weighs 30.7 tons and can accommodate 10 paratroopers and 3 crew members. The main weapon is a 100-mm 2A70 gun, more precisely, a launcher capable of launching guided ammunition and shooting high-explosive fragmentation shells. A 2A72 30mm gun is paired with it. Armament complements 7.62-mm machine gun.

However, later it turned out that at a certain moment the Ministry of Defense stopped this prospetive program, but some of its participants continued to work on their own initiative. it will be noticed that by 2018 the next iteration was more massive, had a more powerful engine, and was less heavily armed.

At the beginning of April 2018, information appeared in the press about the future development of a full-fledged project "sea" BMP. Without reference to the officials, it was claimed that such a project was provided for by the new State Armaments Program. In the first days of May, new information on this was published. At the well-known forum "Bravery" laid out a document of the research and production corporation "Uralvagonzavod" called "Unified Battle Platform", showing the actual version of the appearance of such equipment.

As follows from the document, the research work on determining the appearance was carried out by specialists of Omsktransmash JSC, which is part of Uralvagonzavod. In addition, the Research and Production Center "Special Engineering" (SPC SM) at MSTU. Bauman. Together, the two organizations have developed a rather interesting and promising version of the promising armored vehicles.

According to the presentation, the prerequisites for the emergence of a new project are related to the current state of the art in marine engineering. A number of foreign countries are armed with specialized armored vehicles of this kind, while Russian units use the BTR-80 and BMP-3 equipment. In general, solving the assigned combat tasks, domestic machines are significantly inferior to foreign ones in speed on the water. At the same time, new designs are being developed in the United States that can increase the potential of the marines. The prospective unified platform offered by Russian designers is intended to be the answer to foreign successes.

It was found that the highest combat and operational characteristics should be shown by tracked marines of the Marine Corps (BMMP) with a combined machine-gun and cannon armament and a rather large amphibious assault unit. Also, to obtain high performance, it is necessary to introduce several new solutions of one kind or another. In addition, you need to develop not a specific machine, but a universal platform suitable for use in different roles.

The concept project Omsktransmash proposes the construction of a tracked armored vehicle with a hull of characteristic shape giving the best performance on the water. You should use a powerful propulsion system and special equipment for swimming. The presented images show a housing with a recognizable wedge-shaped frontal part, mated with vertical sides and a horizontal roof with beveled side sections. In front of the hull it is proposed to place a single control unit with all crew jobs. Behind him, on the roof, you should install a combat module of the required type. The central compartment of the hull is given under the power plant of sufficient power, and in the stern there should be a landing (in the variant BMP) or another payload.

The body is proposed to be assembled from armored aluminum alloy with a plating layer. Part of the external parts of the hull and chassis should also receive a coating of stainless steel. The frontal projection of the hull must protect against 30-mm sub-caliber projectiles at a shooting distance of 300 m. The sides are protected against 12.7-mm bullets at a distance of 100 m. Mine resistance is up to 6 kg under the caterpillar. The project also provides for the installation of the active protection complex "Arena-M", covering the entire front hemisphere.

One of the objectives of a promising project is a significant increase in speed on the water. To do this, the body and chassis must have several additional devices and capabilities. So, after going down to the water, the car should fold back the nasal drainage flap, as well as lower the front flap, which covers the running gear. After lifting the rollers and pulling up the track, the undercarriage should be covered with special swivel bottom flaps. Finally, at the stern it is planned to mount another panel: in the stowed position, it should be at the roof level, and in the working position - go down to the bottom.

BMPP of a new type should be distinguished by outstanding dimensions and weight. The total length is determined at 10.5 m with a width of 3.4 m and a height of 3.4 m. The calculated combat weight is 35 tons. Depending on the engine parameters, the specific power may exceed 40-42 hp. per ton. Due to this, the maximum speed on land will reach 75 km / h, on water - a record 37 km / h for domestic technology. Cruising on land calculated at 300 km, on the water - three times less.

It should be noted that the experimental EFV and the hypothetical BMMP have noticeable differences in characteristics. Thus, the American model was distinguished by a greater capacity of the troop compartment and a higher speed on the water. In this case, a clear advantage of BMMP is the combat module "Dagger" with a 57-mm gun, which provides superiority over a significant number of modern and promising models of armored vehicles.

However, there is one fundamental difference. The American EFV project was brought to the test, but then closed due to unacceptable cost. Russian development of the same kind so far exists only "on paper", and even then, only in the form of a pre-designed look. However, this may provide certain advantages, such as the ability to take into account foreign experience and prevent the appearance of already known errors.

According to known data, at present the Russian marines have about 1,400 armored fighting vehicles for transport purposes. The basis of this fleet consists of armored personnel carriers BTR-80 and BTR-82; there are smaller numbers of infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2. It is not difficult to imagine how much promising technology must be purchased to completely replace existing samples.
