Project 19920 "Cormorant" large hydrographic boat

Large hydrographic boats (BGK) of project 19920 are designed to perform highly accurate areal surveys of the bottom relief, maintenance of floating and coastal aids to navigation equipment, and the delivery of personnel and cargo to the unequipped coast. Large hydrographic boatsof Project 19920 "Cormorant" were developed in the city of Nizhny Novgorod at Vympel Design Bureau OJSC for replacing and expanding the capabilities of outdated BGK Hydrographic services in the Russian Navy, parts of coastal troops, naval bases and polygons. In 2018, for the Northern and Pacific fleets, two newest major hydrographic boats of project 19920 were laid and were under construction.

Two small hydrographic vessels of project 19910, two large hydrographic boats of the new project 23040G, as well as two newest large hydrographic boats of project 19920 and three large hydrographic boats of the new project 23370G will be built for the Russian fleet until 2021. This is stated in a statement released on 02 January 2019 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

JSC "Shipyard" Vympel "(Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region) July 5, 2016 launched a large hydrographic boat project 19920 factory number 01844, side number BGK 2150 for the Russian Navy. After the completion of mooring tests, the BGK-2150 large hydrographic boat will be towed to Sevastopol, where factory and state trials will take place. After the delivery of the boat to the Navy, he will serve in the Black and Azov Seas.
