The installed Mitsubishi ZF engine has common components, and the necessary parts are combined to create an engine with different output. The engine is equipped with Mitsubishi's 2-cycle V-type 10-cylinder air-cooled turbo diesel 10ZF22WT, and the pack system that integrates the transmission and engine improves maintainability. As for the engine specifications, the maximum output is 720 horsepower / 2200 rpm at 15 minutes rating, the displacement is 21500 cc, the compression ratio is 18.7, and the maximum shaft torque is 250 kgf m / 1600 rpm. Its top speed was 53km/h, which was standard at the time, but its power-to-weight ratio was 19hp/t, which was good for a second-generation tank. The suspension around the foot is the first domestically produced hydraulic type. The vehicle body can be tilted 200mm up and down, 6 degrees forward and backward, and 9 degrees left and right. The fuel capacity is 780L, and the fuel consumption is 400m/L when cruising at 35km/h on flat ground. A 200L drum can be attached to the rear of the vehicle as an auxiliary tank, and in this case the cruising range is 392km, but compared to second-generation tanks from other countries, the fuel load is small and the cruising range is short. Fuel is preferentially used from the auxiliary tank, and during battle, it can be disconnected by remote control from the cockpit. The fuel basically uses light oil, but it also works with JP-4 jet fuel.

The transmission is a semi-automatic with 6 forward speeds and 1 reverse speed. Acceleration and deceleration is possible only with the accelerator pedal and shift lever, but the clutch operation is required only when starting or stopping. The interior of the car is not equipped with air conditioning, and only the cockpit is equipped with a heater using engine heat. In addition, by installing a diving aid kit consisting of an intake snorkel, exhaust duct, muzzle cover, etc., and sealing each part, it is possible to submerge in rivers up to a depth of 2 m.
