IJN Sakura Class Destroyers
The Sakura class destroyers were smaller than the previous Umikaze type to save on costs and thus were relegated to coastal defense. The Sakura were also the first Japanese designed destroyers, known as the F-10 design. In addition to their smaller size, the Sakura also had weaker engines similiar to the Asakaze type destroyers. Two ships were laid down for the class, the Sakura and the Tachibana.
