Tornado Variants
There are four primary versions of the Tornado; the Tornado IDS (Interdictor/Strike) fighter-bomber, the Tornado ECR (Electronic Combat/Reconnaissance), the Tornado ADV (Air Defence Variant), and the Recce Tornado.
Tornado IDS (Interdictor/Strike)The IDS Tornado is able to attack ground targets with a high probability of kill, thanks to high resolution GMR, highly accurate redundant navigation system inclusive GPS, and high precision weapons. |

Tornado ADV (Air Defence Variant)The Tornado ADV (Air Defence Variant) F3 is an all-weather fighter, optimized for long-range intercept missions at low and medium altitudes. For such missions, the F3 is equipped with the Foxhunter air-to-air radar. |

Tornado ECR (Electronic Combat/Reconnaissance)The Electronic Combat Reconnaissance (ECR) Tornado is based on the IDS Tornado. Additional features of the ECR Tornado are Emitter Locator System (ELS) and Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR). The main weapon for SEAD tasks is the HARM. |

The Recce TornadoThe Recce Tornado is specially equipped for its role. The RAF Version GR4A with internal infrared and line scanner systems plus an external RAPTOR-Pod. The GAF Version is equipped with daylight camera systems and Infrared-Line scanner. |
