PARS Wheeled Armored Combat Vehicle

To meet both TLF and export market requirements, FNSS developed a new generation family of Wheeled Armored Combat Vehicles comprising 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 variant with special emphasis on Mobility, Protection, Payload, and Growth Potential. FNSS has named the vehicles PARS, which in Turkish means Leopard. The PARS 8x8 armored personnel carrier (APC) was designed, developed and produced by Turkish engineers at FNSS facilities with technical support of the US based General Purpose Vehicles (GPV) company. The Company spent over US$20 Million from its own resources for the development of PARS family of vehicles.

The PARS has a modular design, and depending on the vehicle configuration, can be fitted with various weapon turrets including one or two-person turrets and remote controlled weapon stations. The vehicle can accommodate one- or two-person turrets as well as remotely operated weapon stations and other mission equipment.

The vehicle is operated by a crew of two, andcan carry up 12 troops or up to 8 tonnes of payloads. Gross vehicle weight ranges from16 tonnes for the 4x4 and 27 tonnes for the 8x8 configuration. Powered by 530hp diesel engine PARS 8x8 can reach a top speed of 101km/h and has a range of 1.450km. The PARS family of vehicles can be airlifted inside the C-17, or the A400M transport aircraft already ordered by Turkey.

In February 2016 Turkey’s leading land based defence systems company FNSS, achieved another success with its PARS Wheeled Armoured Vehicle (WAV) family. Recently FNSS was awarded a contract to supply the PARS WAV to a new customer. The contract is already effective and FNSS has started to fulfill its obligations under this new contract which includes delivery of a series of vehicles in various configurations. The exact customer, vehicle types, total budget and additional details remained confidential.

“This latest success for the PARS vehicle family, which has become a world standard in 8x8 and 6x6 wheeled armoured vehicles, has once again highlighted the status already achieved by FNSS on the international market. In competition alongside the world’s other top companies, FNSS has once again demonstrated the real quality and value of its vehicles, securing the highest scores in both the technical and value domains. We will continue to maintain our customer’s satisfaction at the highest level by meeting the contract requirements in terms of the schedule, budget, and quality”, says K. Nail Kurt, General Manager and CEO of FNSS.

Under a US$559 Million contract, the largest defence system export achieved to date by a Turkish defence company in a single project, in cooperation with DEFTECH of Malaysia, FNSS would design develop and produce a total of 257 armored personnel carriers to be based on PARS 8x8 in 12 different configurations, including personnel carrier, anti-tank weapon carrier, command and control and anti-aircraft weapon vehicles. Deliveries will span over 7 years. During the first two years the FNSS and DEFTECH engineers jointly designed and produced two different configurations of the vehicle at the FNSS facilities and they underwent various qualification tests before their delivery to the Malaysian Army by the end of 2013.
