Y-20 / Y-XX - Early Artwork
A series of artist's impressions of an aircraft designated 'Y-20' appeared on 25 December 2009 on Chinese aviation enthusiasts websites, a type of outlet that had been used in the past for official Chinese photograph releases. This "fan art" differed in minor details from pictures of a scale model of the same project which had come to light earlier. These images were different, again, from drawings dating from late 2008, which showed an aircraft having a low tailplane and a fuselage shape tending to support statements that it had been designed with inputs from Antonov, designer of the An-70. The latest image consensus showed a design conforming to current trends for such aircraft - notably the Boeing C-17, twin-jet Embraer KC-390, and Kawasaki C-2.
