HQ-17A
The HQ-17A, which made its debut at the National Day military parade in Beijing in 2019, is China's most advanced field air defense missile system. The domestic "Hongqi"-17A wheeled field air defense missile system is a short-range air defense system that adopts a vertical launch method. It is also an all-weather, fully automatic, trinity (target search, tracking and launching device is installed on the same vehicle at the same time). ) A new generation of high-performance anti-aircraft missile launch vehicle. It has many functions such as alerting, command and control, missile guidance and launching. It can operate independently or cooperate with other launch vehicles of the launch company.
From the perspective of the number of ammunition prepared by the whole system and the multi-target combat capability, the Hongqi-17 ground guide has a total of 32 ammunition prepared, and it can engage 8 targets at a time. This data was placed in the 1980s and 1990s, which can be said to be against the sky. After all, at that time, it was able to carry out air-to-ground interception or close air support to the first echelon of a division at the same time. The small fleet that can dispatch 8 aircraft at a time is considered very good, and the aircraft that can dispatch 32 consecutive sorties is considered very worthwhile.
But for now, the main air threat that the Army faces is no longer the traditional interceptor models such as A-10A and AH-64, or even F-15E models, but is based on surveillance and combat. A new generation of long-range anti-tank missiles carried by helicopters, armed helicopters with beyond-horizon precision attack capabilities, dual-mission fighters with off-zone attack capabilities, and even new aerial threats represented by joint attack munitions and small-diameter dexterous munitions carried by strategic bombers.
In this case, the brigade-level field air defense system has put forward higher requirements for single-vehicle firepower density, detection and interception capabilities for light and small targets, and multi-target engagement capabilities. There is already a new generation of Russian "Tor- "M2DT" began testing. Compared with the old "Tor-M2", "Tor-M2DT" uses a new small-diameter interceptor 9M338, which can achieve 16 interceptors per vehicle, but it is not clear how much the multi-target engagement capability has been improved. This will become the direction for the follow-up improvement of the army's Hongqi-17 brigade-level field air defense system.
On October 1, 2019, the HQ-17A, which is believed to be the domestic-use version of the HQ-17AE, made its first public appearance at the National Day military parade in Beijing. The basic version of the Hongqi-17 air defense missile system uses a tracked chassis, while the improved Hongqi-17A uses a wheeled chassis. The system debuted in October 2019 and its export model is called the Hongqi-17AE.
The new generation of domestically-made Hongqi-17A wheeled field air defense missile system will be installed in our army's medium-sized wheeled fast-reaction brigade air defense battalion. Hongqi-17A can not only intercept fixed-wing aircraft, armed helicopters, etc., but also has the capability of on-the-go combat, with multi-target interception capabilities and strong anti-jamming capabilities. The system has strong rapid response capabilities and can adapt to complex electromagnetic environments. It is mainly used to provide accompanying air defense support for mechanized troops and motorized troops, and can also undertake important air defense and strategic protection tasks.
Compared with Hongqi 7/7B, the biggest feature of Hongqi 17A is the realization of the trinity, that is, the target detection, fire control, and launching modules are integrated under a launch vehicle, while the Hongqi 7/7B search radar vehicle and launch vehicle are separate. In this way, the system can perform tasks on a single vehicle, and the overall system goal is small. The missile uses a vertical launch system and has an omnidirectional attack capability that can quickly attack a target that appears suddenly. As mentioned earlier, the Hongqi 7 series missiles use a tilted launcher, which can only attack a certain range of targets, and needs to rotate to deal with targets in other directions, which is easy to delay the fighter. Hongqi 17A also uses a wheeled cross-country chassis, which has good maneuverability and can keep up with medium-sized troops to perform mobile combat missions.
Compared with the tracked Hongqi 17 self-propelled surface-to-air missile weapon system, the Hongqi 17A weapon station is more compact. It integrates a new phased array search and phased array fire control radar, 2x4 short-range low-altitude air defense missiles and multi-spectrum. Photoelectric sighting device; its automation and information capabilities are very high, and it can be used for single-vehicle/two-vehicle combat and can also be used for network defense.
The new supply vehicle is equipped with a multifunctional crane, which can hoist the 4-piece missile box horizontally and load it into the weapon station vertically; with its help, the Hongqi 17A self-propelled surface-to-air missile weapon system can be quickly deployed and deployed, and Reloading was completed quickly after all missiles were launched.
The Hongqi-17A missile company is also equipped with the Jiefang MV3 6x6 third-generation military truck developed by FAW. Its mission in the missile company is to serve as a transport chassis for the command cabin and other functional equipment. The configuration is really embarrassing. With the continuous service of the third-generation high-mobility military truck series made in China, the military will have a significant increase in the field of maneuverability and vehicle generalization.
Hongqi 17A is mainly used for digital rapid-reaction forces to accompany field air defense (fixed deployment). It can effectively intercept any flying targets within 20 kilometers and below 6000-8000 meters (including stealth targets, micro/small drones, and air-to-ground guidance). The 78th Group Army medium wheeled fast anti-synthetic brigade under the jurisdiction of the Northern Theater Army, the brigade air defense camp air missile company, equipped with the domestic Hongqi-17A field air defense missile system.
From the appearance point of view, the Hongqi-17A interceptor is also similar to the Tor M1's 9M33 interceptor. The guidance system of the Tor M1 export-type interceptor is different from the self-use type. The self-use type uses radio command guidance technology, and the export type uses active radar guidance. Therefore, Hongqi 17A should also adopt active radar guidance technology. Considering that China has successfully applied advanced active radar seekers on advanced air defense missiles such as Hongqi-16, Hongqi-17A’s guidance accuracy and anti-jamming capability are indicators, should be better than the early Tor M1 air defense missile system.
The Hongqi-17A interceptor performance is very excellent. In the first 4 seconds of the flight, the Hongqi-17A interceptor has a flying speed of 850 meters per second. From a technical point of view, the main technical and tactical performance of the Hongqi-17 is the same as the French VT1 "Rattlesnake" Compared with the current main army low-altitude short-range air defense weapon systems such as the British "Broadsword 2000", overall it should have a clear advantage.
A regiment affiliated with the PLA Xinjiang Military Command and deployed in a snowy plateau region at an elevation of more than 4,500 meters received the delivery of a new type of anti-aircraft missile and a new type of rocket artillery, js7tv.cn, a PLA video news website reported on 26 May 2021.
HQ-17AE
The short-range anti-aircraft missile weapon system HQ-17AE known as the "low-altitude hunter" is the core of the anti-drone system. HQ-17AE is a multi-functional anti-aircraft missile independently developed by China. It is an export derivative model of HQ-17A (Red Flag-17A) air defense system (SHORAD). The air defense system adopts a number of advanced technologies such as all-solid-state phased array radar, vertical cold launch, direct quick turn, and rotating tail. The system has a short response time and can adapt to the complex electromagnetic environment of the battlefield. The combat slant range of this weapon system is 1.5 kilometers to 20 kilometers, and the combat altitude is 10 meters to 10,000 meters. A single vehicle can guide 4 missiles to intercept 4 targets at the same time. The HQ-17AE missile has a maximum range of 20 kilometers.
The HQ-17AE system carrier is a 6x6 wheeled vehicle with a maximum road speed of 90 km/h. A single vehicle is highly integrated and can operate independently. It has the ability to search, track and launch missiles while traveling. Multiple vehicles can also be networked for operations. At the same time, thanks to the advancement of electronic technology, the upper part of HQ-17AE is significantly lighter than that of HQ-17, and the weight of the whole system is also greatly reduced, which is conducive to transportation by ships, trains and aircraft, and improves the strategic maneuverability of the system.
As a short-range air defense weapon system, HQ-17AE can be used to intercept various low-altitude incoming targets, such as fixed-wing aircraft, armed helicopters, drones, cruise missiles, tactical air-to-ground missiles, and rockets; it is mainly used for accompanying support The air security of mechanized combat units during assembly, marching, deployment, and mobile operations; it can also be used for air defense of important areas, covering the air security of major targets such as command posts, intelligence centers, important bridges, ferries, and transportation hubs in the combat area.
