On October 25, 2016, the launching ceremony of the “Dongfanghong 3” ship production was held at the cutting workshop of the manufacturing department of Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. On January 16, 2018, Ocean University of China’s (OUC) new deep-sea research vessel (H2623) was launched and named at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai.
In attendance were Prof. Ju Chuanjin, Chairman of OUC’s university council and Prof. Yan Ju, Vice President of OUC, along with leaders from the Ministry of Education, the Jiangnan Shipyard Group, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Oceanic Administration, the Ministry of Finance, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation and the China Classification Society. Mr. Hu Keyi, chief designer at Jiangnan Shipyard, hosted the ceremony, which began at 11 o’clock to the powerful rhythm of the national anthem. President Lin Ou of the Jiangnan Shipyard Group and Chairman Ju Chuanjin delivered speeches on behalf of the shipbuilder and the commissioner respectively, expressing good wishes and keen expectations for the future of the vessel.
