725th Research Institute

The 725th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation is a comprehensive research institute (Luoyang) engaged in the research of ship materials. Established in Beijing in June 1961. It has 1,200 employees, 8 research laboratories, 11 holding companies and three seaport test stations, and branches in Qingdao, Xiamen, Shanghai, Beijing and Foshan. The company covers an area of nearly 1,500 acres and has more than 4,000 sets of first-class scientific research and production facilities including the National Key Laboratory of Marine Corrosion and Protection. After more than 40 years of development, it has become a unique multi-professional comprehensive ship material research and test base. It is the "ship material technology testing center" of China's shipbuilding industry, the "ship material verification test center" of the National Ship Inspection Bureau, the "ship material testing center" of the naval equipment, and the "National Marine Ship Standardization Technical Committee" ". With a doctorate and master's degree in materials science.

In September 2016, the longest and most difficult cross-sea channel with the largest investment and highest construction standard in China's bridge building history - Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge fully started operation in its main part. CSIC Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. (WSIG for short) and CSC No. 725 Research Institute undertook the tasks of manufacturing and installing the bridge's components including steel box girders, steel pylons and bridge bearings of the non-navigable span bridge and the river-sea shipping channel bridge. Special bridge bearings manufactured by CSCNo. 725 Research Institute become important joints for supporting the bridge to resist violent typhoons and strong earthquakes.

In September 2016, the 4,500-meter manned submersible project, developed independently by CSIC No.702 Research Institute, finished the construction of the framework and tested the carrying capability, and the project officially entered the phase of general assembly and joint debugging. As a project in the National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), the 4,500-meter manned submersible had a framework manufactured by No. 725 Research Institute to support the whole body of the submersible. This project filled the gap of titanium alloy framework manufacturing for deep submersibles in China.

Since its establishment, it has won more than 700 scientific and technological achievements, including more than 60 national-level scientific and technological progress awards and more than 280 provincial-level scientific and technological progress awards. Strong research and trial production in more than 50 professional fields and manufacturing of key components such as new materials for ships, new materials, vibration and noise reduction stealth materials, corrosion and protection technologies, and damage analysis of ship equipment and structures. With production capacity, it has made important contributions to naval equipment construction and national economic construction.

Since the reform and opening up, the 725s have consistently implemented the principle of "taking the military as the foundation, combining military and civilians" and vigorously promoting the commercialization, industrialization and internationalization of scientific and technological achievements. It has successively developed and formed metal bellows expansion joints, corrosion and protection technology and products, titanium alloy material products, various non-metal products, special material pipe fittings, special steel and alloy casting and forging parts, metal explosive composite materials, special material pressure vessels, High-tech industries such as bridge pipe supports and cardiovascular interventional medical devices. The company's military and civilian products have passed the GB/T19001-ISO9001 quality system certification; it holds the AR2 pressure vessel manufacturing license and the national secondary measurement certificate. The titanium alloy castings and sacrificial anode products have passed the American Bureau of Shipping ABS certification, aluminum-steel. The transition joint has passed the DNV certification of the Norwegian Classification Society. The products are widely used in ships, petrochemicals, metallurgy, transportation, urban heating and other industries and departments. It is one of the first 100 research institutes in the country with foreign trade self-operating rights. The products are exported to North America including the United States and Japan. More than 20 countries and regions in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and Southeast Asia.

In recent years, the 725th National Science and Technology Commission has obtained the “Advanced High-tech Enterprise for Implementing the Torch Program”, the “Advanced Unit for Scientific and Technological Progress” of the Ship Corporation, the “Star High-tech Enterprise” of Henan Province, and the “Advanced Unit for Developing the Science and Technology Industry” and “ Provincial civilized units and many other honors.
