CSIC Research Institute No. 724

The 724th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation was formally established in 1970 with the approval of the Central Military Commission and the National Defense Science and Technology Commission. It is a national key research institute engaged in the development and production of large-scale electronic system engineering.

CSIC No.724 Research Institute is one of the few developers in the world that have the ability to independently develop Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) products. At present, the Group has completed the technical system construction for its VTS system, which has reached the international advanced level in general, and some of its technical indicators have reached the international leading level.

The first domestic intelligent welding system of armored car parts, independently developed by CSIC No.724 Institute, debuted in the event “Armor and Anti-tank weapons Day 2018”. With characteristics of strong integrality and high intelligence, the system realized unmanned manufacturing in producing armored car parts, undercarriages and portal frames with side sway by applying smart technology. After the system was put into use, it substantially improved the efficiency of armored car research and the quality of assembling and welding, reduced producing cycle time by over 70%, and increased operating efficiency by over 85%.

It is located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties. It covers an area of 220,000 square meters and has fixed assets of more than 100 million yuan. It includes nearly 1,000 engineers and technicians, and has a complete quality assurance system. /T19001-ISO9001 and GJB/Z9001 quality system certification, with a large number of the most advanced scientific research and testing equipment, advanced CAD / CAM means and supporting testing and manufacturing capabilities.

Since its establishment, the 724 has made outstanding contributions to national defense construction and won more than 100 major scientific research achievements at the national, ministerial and provincial levels, reaching domestic leading or international advanced level.

In recent years, the 724 has accelerated the pace of military-to-civilian and industrialization of science and technology, and has taken advantage of its professional advantages to actively explore the civilian products market and form technological industrialization and high-tech products with large scale and development potential, such as automation and electronic systems. It has achieved good economic and social benefits and has a good impact.

The 724 has also established extensive economic and technical cooperation with many advanced countries and scientific research institutions in the world, promoting foreign exchange and technological development, and the products are exported to foreign countries.
