709th Research Institute CSIC

The 709th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation is located on the shore of the East Lake and has a beautiful environment. It is an important research unit of Wuhan “China Optics Valley”. 709 is the first national key engineering research institute integrating computing technology, information technology, automatic control and mathematical theory research. It is mainly engaged in information command system, computer reinforcement technology, fault-tolerant technology, parallel processing technology, network technology and software engineering. Professional research and development work in graphic image processing, mechatronics, and printed circuits.

Centered on technical research, the system and various types of equipment developed have filled many domestic gaps and made great contributions to national defense modernization and informationization.

The company occupies an area of 137,000 square meters, with fixed assets exceeding 100 million yuan, strong scientific research strength, perfect experimental means, more than 2,000 sets of instruments and equipment, 2 systems for system simulation and system joint adjustment, 2 designs for EDA and mechanical CAD. Center, integrated circuit testing, routine testing, software testing, four testing centers, with fully equipped electronic assembly, printed board manufacturing and machining three production lines.

There are more than 1,000 employees in the 709, including more than 50 national, provincial and ministerial experts, more than 70 researchers, and more than 300 senior technicians. There is an independent training institution, which is responsible for continuing education and postgraduate education for all employees. Now it has 3 master's programs, covering all secondary disciplines of “Computer Science and Technology”, with a doctoral degree and a postdoctoral mobile station, 12 research direction, 20 graduate tutors, including 7 doctoral tutors.

The National Engineering Research Center for Ship Design Technology relies on the unit 708 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry and four large and medium-sized shipyards in China (Hudong Shipyard, Zhonghua Shipyard, Dalian Shipbuilding New Plant, Xingang Shipyard) to jointly fund the construction of National Engineering Research Center for Ship Design Technology (referred to as: NERC-SDT). The National Engineering Research Center for Ship Design Technology will have the research and development capabilities at the national level in the field of ship engineering, mainly for the follow-up engineering development and system integration of domestic ship CAD scientific research results, providing different designs for ship and ocean engineering. The National Engineering Research Center for Ship Design Technology is built on the basis of the 708th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry. It is a comprehensive ship and offshore engineering design and research institution with a long history, the largest scale and the strongest strength in China.
