6th Army Aviation Regiment

During November and December 2003, the army aviation regiment of the Guangzhou Military Area Command organized live ammunition exercises from day to night for several times, which improved the battle effectiveness of the troops at night. In the exercise, the "Blue Army" attacked the "Red Army" under the curtain of night. And helicopters of the "Red Army" took off immediately to intercept. In the 2003 exercise, aiming at requirements of air wars in the future, the regiment stressed night exercises in order to spur on its all-around trainings. They elaborately planned the exercise, overcame unfavorable elements such as poor visibility, big changes in natural light, focused on guiding the pilots to complete the transformation from visual flight to instrument flight, and improved the ability of the pilots in fighting night war. In the exercise, from single subject exercise to overall tactics application, from single type of airplanes to multi types' coordinated attack, they set up vivid battlefield environment, and carried out counter exercises of high intensity and large spans in the day and night, with the "Blue Army" as the opponent. As a result, there was effective improvement in pilots' ability of emergency start, battlefield rescue as well as anti-attacks. The regiment adopted 24-hour rolling exercise method, carried out exercise subjects such as midnight flight, daybreak flight, and strictly exercised pilots' continuous battle ability. Therefore, the troops have obtained the mechanized battle ability of all-time take off and all omni-directional attack.
