PLA 68th Army

The predecessor of the 68th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was the 6th Column of the North China Military Region. The column was formed by the Independent 7th and 8th Brigade of the Jizhong Military Region and each of the Jijin Military Region and the Chahar Military Region. In 1985, millions of disarmament, the 68th Army was revoked. In August of the same year, the army was reorganized as a Chifeng garrison area (military level), moved to Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, and all its divisions were reorganized as garrison divisions, stationed in Linxi and other places, facing the Soviet troops in Mongolia, and responsible for southwest defense in the northeast region.
