PLA 36th Army

The 36th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was adapted from the Kuomintang Army of the Suiyuan Uprising.

On September 19, 1949, Dong Qiwu, chairman of the government of the Kuomintang Suiyuan Province (now southwestern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) and deputy chief of the Northwest Army Chief Executive Office [General of the Founding of the People's Republic of China] led by the influence of the victory situation of the People's Liberation War and the policies of the Communist Party of China, A total of 39 people from Suiyuan provincial military and political leaders and representatives of all ethnic groups jointly signed the Uprising.

On December 9, the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Commission decided to reorganize Dong Qiwu's headquarters into the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and appointed a leader. Its 111th Army was reorganized into the 36th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. Liu Wanchun served as the army commander (later Wang Jianye acting army commander), Kang Jianmin [major general ] served as political commissar, Wang Jianye and Zhang Huiyuan served as deputy army commanders, and Fan Zuigui He served as Chief of Staff and Li Yuan as Director of the Political Department.

Under its jurisdiction: the 106th Division adapted from the 258th Division of the 111th Army. Zhao Xiaofeng served as the commander, Zhang Naigeng [Major] served as the political committee (later Liao Dinglin [Major Founder] ); the 107th Division adapted from the 320th Division, Ma Fengchen served as the commander (later auspicious acting commander), and Yang Anping served as the Political Committee (hou Mu Xiang ?Major General Founding?Acting Political Commissioner); The 108th Division adapted from the 310th Division, Zhang Fuyuan serves as the commander, and Wang Zhiwu serves as the political member. At the same time, the independent third brigade, the 14th brigade of the security cavalry, and the 13th brigade of the integrated cavalry were reorganized into military cavalry brigades, and Qiao Hankui served as the brigade commander.

There were more than 13,000 people in the army. Included in the establishment of Suiyuan Military Region. After the reorganization of the troops, they moved to Baotou area to carry out political restructuring and productive labor in accordance with the principles of the People's Liberation Army to become a new type of people's army. In December 1950, the 36th Army was returned to the 23rd Corps of the North China Military Region. In January 1951, the regiment moved to Hengshui District, Hebei Province.

In April, the Straight Cavalry Brigade was revoked, and its troops were part of the 4th Division of the Cavalry directly under the Corps that was also revoked. In September, the regiment went to North Korea to carry out the task of building the airport and rear alert. In December, it returned to his motherland and settled in the Dingxian (now Dingzhou) region of Hebei Province.

In February 1952, the 36th Army Headquarters and the 37th Army Headquarters transferred the Central Finance Committee to the Construction Engineering Department, and the 107th Division and the 37th Army 110th Division were combined into the 107th Division. They were transferred to the Corps Learning Corps or organized into construction engineering troops. The 36th Army designation was revoked.
