28th Army

The predecessor of the 28th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was the 10th Column of the East China Field Army. The column was developed by some troops from the Bohai Naval Region of the Shandong Military Region during the Anti-Japanese War.

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, most of the main forces of the Bohai Naval Region, which belonged to the Shandong Military Region, advanced into the Northeast. The troops to be left in the Bohai Naval Region formed 6 regiments, namely the 1st, 2nd Regiment, 11th Regiment of the 6th Brigade, and the Guard The 13th and 14th Regiments of the 7th Brigade and the 17th Regiment of the 8th Brigade. In June 1946, a civil war broke out. In July, in order to meet the needs of the war of liberation, the Bohai Navy District formed the 7th Division of the Shandong.

People’s Liberation Army with the 1st, 2nd Regiment and 13th Regiment of the 7th Police Brigade, and participated in the self-defense counterattack operation on Jiaoji Road. Qi Dong waited for the victory of the battle. In October, the East China Military Region established the Bohai Naval Command Front Command. In November, the 11th Regiment of the 6th Brigade, the 14th Regiment of the 7th Brigade and the 17th Regiment of the 8th Brigade of the Bohai Navy District formed the 11th Division of the Shandong Liberation Army. The 7th and 11th Divisions of the Shandong People's Liberation Army were both under the command of the Bohai Naval Front Command.

In late January 1947, the Shandong Field Army and the Central China Field Army were reorganized to form the East China Field Army. In February, the 7th and 11th Divisions of the Bohai Naval District were jointly organized as the 10th Column of the East China Field Army. Song Shilun served as commander, Jing Xiaocun served as political commissar, Liu Peishan served as deputy political commissar, Zhao Junsheng served as chief of staff, and Xiao Wangdong served as director of the political department. The 7th and 11th divisions were renamed the 28th and 29th divisions in sequence, and at the same time formed a column of secret agents, with a total of more than 16,000 people.

After the formation of the columns, they participated in the Battle of Laiwu, and blocked at the Jinyang Pass and north of it to ensure that the main force would wipe out the Kuomintang Army Li Xianzhou Group. In late April, cooperating with comrade forces to launch the Tai'an Battle, annihilated the main force of the 72nd Division of the Kuomintang Reorganization, and captured more than 11,000 people under the commander Yang Wenquan. In May, it participated in the battle of Meng Lianggu and blocked in the area north of Laiwu, ensuring that the main force would completely wipe out the 74th Division of the Kuomintang Army. After the end of June, it was instructed to take part in the outside attack, conquering the Great Wande and Jieshou of the Jinpu Line, and then carried out the Liangshan blockade in the southwestern area of Shandong. Together with the various departments of the East China Field Army Outer Corps, the Jinji Luyu Field Army entered the Dabie Mountains. From September to November, participated in the battle of sand and soil collection and Longhai Road attack. In December, Liu Peishan became a political commissar.

In January 1948, a new army consolidation campaign was conducted in Chengwu and Caoxian areas. In February, it returned to the command of the Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu Field Army, crossed the Longhai Road, and entered the war zone of Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu. In March, it captured Taihe and Guoyang in Anhui Province. In April, proceed to the southern section of Pinghan Road to liberate towns such as Runan, Zhumadian and Queshan in Henan Province. In May, it participated in the Battle of Wanxi, captured Deng County in Henan Province, and liberated Laohekou in Hubei Province. It then participated in the Battle of Wandong and wiped out more than 4,200 KMT troops. In June, the East China Field Army launched the Kaifeng Campaign, and was ordered to return to the East China Field Army. From Pinghan Road to the Shangcai area, it participated in blocking the Kuomintang Army Hu Lian Corps and contributed to the victory of the Kaifeng Campaign.

From late June onwards, in Taolingang, southeast of Qi County, a tenacious blockade for 5 days and nights gave the KMT's 5th Army a heavy blow to ensure that the main field army annihilated the area's life corps. During this period, Wu Xiao served as chief of staff, and Xiao Wangdong served as deputy political commissar and director of the political department. In September, it participated in the battle of Jinan and fought with the comrades for 8 days and nights to liberate Jinan, which should wipe out more than 17,000 Kuomintang troops; after the 5th company of the 85th Regiment was awarded the honorary title of "Jinan Company." In the same winter, To participate in the Huaihai Campaign, first of all, it was aided east of Xuzhou to ensure that the main force was to annihilate the Huang Baitao Corps, and then to participate in the siege and the Ju Yuming Group.

In January 1949, the 30th Division was formed in each of the 28th and 29th Divisions in Lianshui, North Jiangsu. In February, the 10th Column was renamed the 28th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and was affiliated with the 10th Corps of the 3rd Field Army, in accordance with the Central Military Commission's order to unify the army's establishment and troop designation. Zhu Maruqing served as the military commander, Chen Meizao served as the political commissar, Xiao Feng served as the deputy military commander, Wu Xiao served as the chief of staff, and Wu Jiamin served as the director of the political department. The 28th Division was renamed the 82nd Division, Zhong Xianwen was appointed as the division chief, and Wang Ruojie was the political commissar; the 29th Division was renamed the 83rd division, Zhu Yaohua was the division chief, and Li Mancun was the political commissar; He was a political commissar.

There were more than 34,000 people in the army. In April, after participating in the battle of crossing the river and landing in the west of Jiangyin, liberated Qishuyan, cut off the Lu Road of Beijing (Nanjing), Lienke Yixing, Changxing, Wuxing, and wiped out more than 11,000 Kuomintang troops. In May, it participated in the Battle of Shanghai, conquered cities and towns such as Taicang, Jiading, Luodian, and coordinated with the comrades to liberate Wusong and wipe out more than 8,700 KMT troops. In July, it entered Fujian. In October, it participated in the battles of Fuzhou and other islands to liberate the islands of Minqing, Fuzhou, Hepingtan, and Xiaodengdao.

The 247th Regiment of the army was awarded the honorary title of "Dadengdao Company" after the 8th company. On October 24, 1949, less than three weeks after the founding of the People's Republic of China, a total of more than nine people from the three regiments of the 28th Army of the People's Liberation Army crossed the sea and launched the Battle of Kinmen (Taiwan called the "Gunning Battle"). The People's Liberation Army fought hard on the island for three days and nights, and the whole army was annihilated because of the lack of support. This was the only total defeat since the PLA became an army. Although the battle of the Golden Gate was fought in a corner, it affected the overall situation. It can be said that "the defeats of the past still have a realistic reference value for today's Taiwan Strait relations."

At the end of the same year, the garrison was stationed in the front line of Fujian to carry out tasks such as banditry. Soon, Zhang Chuangchu served as deputy political commissar of the army, Zhu Yunqian served as chief of staff, and Li Mancun served as director of the political department. In May 1952, the 28th Army returned to the leadership of the Fujian Military Region. In September 1953, it was transferred to Putian, Fujian. In November 1969, it was ordered by the Military Commission to move northward to Shanxi. It was stationed in Linfen. The unit number was 52843. Division, withdrawn from the 84th Division. It was reorganized as the 28th Army and stationed in Datong, Shanxi. The unit was designated 51361. In October 1998, the 28th Army of the Army was ordered to rescind, the 83rd Division was reorganized as a reserve division, the 82nd Division was downsized as a brigade, transferred to the 63rd Army, and the 205th Division was reduced to a brigade, transferred to the Inner Mongolia Military Region (The brigade was withdrawn in 2003).

Since February 1949, it served as commander of the Army for the twenty-eighth Army: Zhu Shaoqing segment Huan Jing Chen Zhan Danan Conlin Huang Guanting Mouhan Guang Zhang Taiheng Lvxiang Sheng. The successive political commissars were Chen Meizao, Zhang Chuangchu, Wang Zhi, Xu Guangyou, Dong Lifang, Li Huaide and Li Jinmin.
