27th Group Army

The 27th Group Army, located in Shijiazhuang, was comprised of five brigade-sized units. 27th Army - Early History

The predecessor of the 27th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was the East China Field Army Field 9 Column. The column was developed by several armed forces in the Jiaodong area during the Anti-Japanese War.

The headquarters of the 27th Army was located in Shijiazhuang City, the capital of Hebei Province. The original unit code was 51002. It belonged to the Beijing Military Region and was adapted from the 27th Army in 1985. It had jurisdiction over the 79th, 80th, and 81st Infantry Divisions and was incorporated into tanks. Recent Activities

In June 1989 the 27th Group Army and its organic elements were ordered to suppress the student demonstrations in Tiananmen Square.
