"Red 1st Division"
The 193rd Division "Red 1st Division" (Unit 51052) is located at Zhanjiakou. In 2002 the division was commanded by Li Dongjun.
In the winter of 1931 the Northeast Army Zhanhai Department was defeated in the Northeast battle, and went back to Rehe, to the Anti-Japanese Military Alliance. At the beginning of 1939, the Ninety-Eighth army was cut after the 193rd division, was put under the jurisdiction of the Thirteenth Army National Revolutionary Army. In 1940 February, in order to strengthen the garrison forces, the national government, the eighty-fifth army ninety-first division, Thirteenth Army 193rd division, thirtieth army under the tentative sixteenth division, Second Army established new co-commander, belonging to eighth theater. Chen Daqing was appointed commander. Jurisdiction of: ninety-first division, 193rd division division commander Wang Yuwen Ren; Lai Ruxiong, Li Qiang As. In December the same year, the Kuomintang troops were part of the preparation of adjustment, the military refitted designation as the twenty-ninth army of the national revolutionary army.
Yang Chengwu wanted to send the 193rd Division from the 65th Army Corps, an army unit from the North China Field Army, instead of the 70th Division. A diversionary attack would draw PLA units away from the main thrust delivered by Li Kuo-hui's 193rd Division into areas further north.
In September 1948 the original second column fourth brigade was renamed the twenty-second brigade. In 1949 February, according to the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the sequence of commands and forces of the North China military forces underwent and extensive reorganization. The eighth column was renamed the Chinese people's Liberation Army Sixty-Fifth army, the nineteenth regiment was attached. Qiu Yu, commander of the King Road, as political commissar, Wang Kebin served as deputy commander, Xiao Yingtang served as the deputy commander and chief of staff, Cai Shunli was appointed deputy political commissar and director of the political department, Pan Guilin held the post of minister of logistics department. The twenty-second brigade was renamed the 193rd Division. The commander was Zheng Sansheng, political commissar of the former division of history into; twenty-third brigade was renamed the 194th division commander, Zhao Wenjin, Yuan Naidong was appointed political Commissioner; the twenty-fourth brigade was renamed the 195th division commander, Ruan Ping, Yang Yinsheng served as the political commissar.
On May 18, 1951, the 193rd Division of a corps under the Chinese Peoples Volunteers' was battling hard in the north of Foyan Mountain in Seoul, Korea. The enemies were one cavalary division and other three brigades of the US. After the war, Yang Dezhi, commander of the 19th Army Corps, recorded in a book "Memoir of Yang Dezhi" on page 559:
"The combat of the corps of our volunteers was extremely severe. Since nearby corps had retreated 60 to 100 kilometers, they had no fire support. It was hard for logistics support to follow up, and the troop lacked food and ammunition. Some of our divisions and regiments besieged by the enemy for several times still fought tenaciously. Zheng Sansheng, commander of the 193rd Division led the troop holding the ground in the area of the southeast, Foyan Mountain, Shuiluo Mountain and Guoci Peak. The second battalion of the 579th Regiment was holding on the Foyan Mountain. 299 men from the second battalion arrived at the position. After three days' severe fighting, when they retreated under order on May 20, only 37 men were alive."
Then the "Memoir of Yang Dezhi" went on: "On May 19, 1951, "the First Platoon of the 8th Company under the 58th Regiment of the 194th Division of a corps defeated the besiegement of the enemy many times in the area of resistance, Tumei Mountain … At last only one soldier Cao Bangguo was alive on the position. He did not fear at all …The army corps awarded the platoon a large banner saying 'everyone is an ironclad hero'…"
