PLA 17th Army

The predecessor of the 17th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was the 11th Column of the Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu Field Army formed on August 1, 1947 by the former finger of the Ji-Lu-Yu Military Region and three independent brigades.

In January 1946, the troops belonging to the Jiluyu Military Region were reorganized. The 29th Regiment, the 2nd Division Independent Regiment, the 1st Division 2nd and the 6th Regiment formed the 1st Brigade. In June 1947, each of the 3rd, 5th and 7th Army divisions and each of the 4th, 6th and 8th Army divisions were formed as independent 2nd and 3rd Brigade together with the original Jiluyu Military Region Independent 1st Brigade, transferred to the command of the Jinji, Luyu, and Field Army. In August 1947, in order to strengthen the field troops and adapt to the needs of the Great Counterattack in the Liberation War, the Jiluyu Military Region was ordered to reorganize and form the Jinjiluyu Field Army in the Juancheng area of Henan Province with the independent first, second, and third brigades 11 columns.
