Transport Troops

The transport troops organizationally consist of a military command body - the Department of Transport Support of the Ministry of Defense, the 30th separate railway, 65th automobile and 36th road-bridge brigades, the military communications department, and a logistics warehouse. Nowadays, the personnel of the transport troops are successfully solving the tasks of achieving a qualitatively new level of the system of transport support of the Armed Forces, guaranteeing its constant readiness to address issues of ensuring the military security of the state.

One of the notable features of the transport troops of the Republic of Belarus is that servicemen carry out combat training in the course of performing educational and practical tasks at the objects of the transport network of the Republic of Belarus. The most significant of them are participation in the construction of floating and temporary bridges, repair of access railway tracks at the facilities of the Belarusian Railways, and assistance to agricultural organizations in harvesting. Thus, the personnel of the 30th separate railway, 65th automobile and 36th road-bridge brigades, improving their training and martial skills in the framework of exercises and studies, also bring tangible benefits to the country's economy.

From the first days of their creation, special attention was paid to the issues of combat and mobilization training. During the command-staff, battalion and company tactical-special exercises, the field training of servicemen was improved. To this end, in 1993 in Slutsk, the training center of the 307th training and production road-building base "Lesische" was created, designed to work out practical standards for all types of military and special equipment and train personnel for railway troops.

In November 2001, the Railway Troops Directorate of the Republic of Belarus was transformed into the Railway Troops Department of the Ministry of Defense of our country. Measures to ensure combat and mobilization readiness began to be carried out under the direct supervision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, which raised the combat readiness of units and formations to a significantly new level. Since 2001, the railway troops regularly took part in exercises held in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, during which the issues of the need for a reliable system of technical cover for the state road network, the effective use of forces and means involved in its technical cover and transport support were studied and investigated. Armed Forces.

The modern, highly dynamic nature of military operations demanded a revision of the organization of transport management of the Armed Forces, the creation of a stable transport system that would unite various types of communications. In order to achieve a qualitatively new level of the state of the transport support system of the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations, the efficiency of its functioning and constant readiness for guaranteed performance of tasks in peacetime and wartime, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 312 of May 10, 2006 on the basis of railway, automobile and road troops were created transport troops of the Republic of Belarus.

Since 1995, the transport troops have built more than 45 bridges with a total length of over 3,500 meters, and built over 90 kilometers of roads. The effect of this work of people in uniform is estimated at billions of rubles. For example, this year, servicemen of the 30th separate railway brigade built road bridges across the Iput rivers in the city of Dobrush and the Western Dvina in the urban village of Beshenkovichi. Thanks to this, bypass roads for road transport and agricultural machinery have been reduced by 70 and 120 kilometers, respectively.

Servicemen of the 65th Automobile Brigade annually transport about 4,000 tons of various cargoes to all corners of our country. The total mileage of freight transport is about 700 thousand kilometers per year. For comparison: the length of the equator of the globe is a little more than 40 thousand kilometers.

In 2014 alone, in the course of assisting agricultural enterprises in harvesting, the military personnel of the transport troops transported 1,000 tons of dry cargo and 50,000 liters of fuel and lubricants.

The transport troops of the Republic of Belarus were directly involved in the construction of such large facilities as the Island of Courage and Sorrow, the railway station in Minsk, the memorial complex "Mound of Glory", the historical and cultural complex "Stalin's Line", the National Library of Belarus, the ski and biathlon base "Zayachya glade ". In addition, they are involved in the implementation of three state programs: "Roads of Belarus", "Development of forestry" and "Peat".
