6th Separate GuardsThe city of Slutsk was first mentioned in the chronicle of times in 1116 and is one of the most ancient cities in Belarus. It was founded at the confluence of the Bychok and Sluch rivers in the central part of the country. According to ancient finds, the first settlers existed in this area as early as the middle of the 1st millennium BC. Slutsk received the right to self-government in 1441 as one of the first cities in Belarus after Brest and Grodno.

The city of Slutsk has been constantly attacked throughout its history. From 1502 to 1521, the Crimean Tatars tried to capture the city of Slutsk, Napoleon occupied it in the 19th century, during the First World War, the 2nd Army of the Western Front placed its headquarters in it, the Poles after 1919 seized the city several times.

During the Nazi occupation the city of Slutsk was almost completely destroyed. Slutsk was occupied by the third tank division of the Wehrmacht within one day - on June 26, 1941. The next day, there were still battles in the eastern part of the city, and a new government was already being established in the center. At the same time, small enemy sabotage groups entered the city on 25 June. Nearby villages: Kolodeznoe, Zhaulki, Rudniki, Mosevichi, Prussians - were destroyed by the Nazis along with the inhabitants.

Now it is a bright, clean city. After the "Dozhinki" held in 2005, Slutsk was patched up, adjusted and tinted.

The largest sugar plant is located on the territory. And also a cheese-making plant, a cannery, a meat-packing plant, a bakery, a flax plant, known for its quality all over the world. Earlier, there was still a brewery, a pasta factory, a furniture factory, and a textile factory. Also, there is still a printing house where you can order printing of paper products: business cards, posters, etc. In general, all the main enterprises operate on the territory of the city, which can provide citizens with everything they need. Football club "Slutsk" was founded with the support of a sugar factory. This club is showing good results in the first league. The guys still have something to work on, but the results for such a relatively young team are quite good.
