AS-5 Beaver

Beaver was a merchant built in 1910 by Newport News Shipbuilding and purchased by the Navy 1 July 1917 for conversion to a submarine tender at Mare Island Navy Yard. Commissioned one month before the end of World War One, she would serve during the inter-war period on the asiatic station. Retained during World War II, she served initially in the Atlantic, then in the Pacific and was transferred to War Shipping Administration in August 1946 for disposal.
