SUCCESS 1-1: Early warning has significantly improved. Usually air defense units receive timely air defense warnings, weapons control status changes and early warning information.
1-3QFY95 SUCCESS 1-2: Air defense liaison officers (LNOs) at brigade and battalion receive and provide effective and timely directed early warning to the brigade task force.
- Air defense LNOs receive early warning from the Division Early Warning (DEW) net and directed early warning over the division command net.
- Both brigade and battalion LNOs quickly re-broadcast information to the task force.
4QFY95/1QFY96
SUCCESS 1-3: Use of directed early warning continues to be a strength at the brigade and battalion level. Air defense officers are proactive in ensuring rapid and accurate dissemination of early warning throughout the brigade task force.
Successful units do not depend entirely on directed early warning originating from the battery command post. This form of early warning is inherently slow and largely ineffective.
