2.1 Process Ground Targets

Fire mission processing is not timely.
PROBLEMS:
1. Fire missions are not processed in a timely manner and the volume of fires do not achieve desired effects.
2. Fire direction procedures do not use published priorities of fire on HPTL to support the operation.
3. Doctrinal communications nets are not used. Units use one net to conduct fire support coordination and call for fires from observers.
4. Positive clearance of fire procedures are not in place:
- Units do not track friendly forces to allow for more responsive clearance.
- Maneuver commanders do not establish fire control measures which facilitate clearance of fire procedures.
Techniques:
1.
Do not try to attack every target with the same volume of fires.
2.
Develop a proper ATGM and use it to establish the correct volume of fire on
targets.
3.
Appropriately plan to mass fires from DS and reinforcing battalions.
