- BAE Systems Hits Delivery Milestone for Thermal Weapon Sights BAE Systems 22 Aug 2011 -- BAE Systems has now delivered its 100,000th thermal weapon sight to the U.S. Army in support of military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The sights are widely used on rifles, machine guns, and mounted weapon systems, providing soldiers with the ability to acquire and engage targets independent of darkness and common battlefield obscurants.
- Boeing Receives UK Contract for 14 New Chinooks Boeing 22 Aug 2011 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] has received a $1.64 billion (£1 billion) contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to provide 14 new CH-47 Chinook helicopters and associated support for the first five years to the Royal Air Force (RAF).

- SAIC Awarded $19 Million Contract by U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) SAIC 22 Aug 2011 -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to provide engineering and physical life sciences research and development services in support of the NRL Chemistry Division. The single-award contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a contract ceiling value of more than $19 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily at NRL facilities in Washington, D.C.
- 2nd Boeing-built GPS IIF Satellite Enters Service with US Air Force Boeing 22 Aug 2011 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced that the second of 12 GPS IIF satellites the company is building for the U.S. Air Force has achieved operational acceptance and entered service. With testing complete, GPS IIF-2, now called SVN-63, is the newest satellite to join the active 31-satellite GPS constellation operated by the Air Force 50th Space Wing and the 2nd Space Operations Squadron at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo.
