Gaddafi's son Mohammad arrested during interview with Al Jazeera

07:39 22/08/2011 CAIRO, August 22 (RIA Novosti) - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's eldest son, Mohammad, was giving an interview to Al Jazeera, when gun shots erupted in his house and he was arrested.

According to Al Jazeera, Mohammad was living with his wife, children and mother, who has been long divorced to Gaddafi.

Mohammad was not involved in politics and did not occupy a post in the government. Rebels put him on house arrest and promised to provide his security.

Fresh clashes between the rebel troops and security forces loyal to Libyan leader Gaddafi erupted on Sunday on the outskirts of Tripoli. The rebels entered the capital from the sea, coming from the city Misrata.

On early Monday, rebels gained control of the Libyan capital of Tripoli and occupied the main square.
