- ISF, Marines capture Insurgents in Northern Babil MNF-I/MNC-I 06 Nov 2004 -- Iraqi Security Forces with elements of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit rounded up 41 insurgents during multiple operations south of Baghdad Nov. 5.
- Mortars Hit Camp Babylon MNF-I/MNC-I 06 Nov 2004 -- Camp Babylon came under mortar attack Nov. 5 just before midnight. One explosion was heard in the vicinity of Camp Babylon, and one mortar grenade exploded inside the camp.
- Fallujah-Ramadi Operations Update MNF-I/MNC-I 06 Nov 2004 -- Iraqi Security Forces and the I Marine Expeditionary Force continue to degrade and disrupt anti-Iraqi forces in the Fallujah-Ramadi area. I Marine Expeditionary Force employed U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force aviation assets to deliver precision munitions to destroy preplanned targets in Fallujah.
- Weapons Cache Seized MNF-I/MNC-I 06 Nov 2004 -- Marines with the I Marine Expeditionary Force discovered a weapons cache Nov. 6, denying the enemy use of the following ordnance: 388 mortars, 80 artillery shells, 42 tank rounds, 16 rocket warheads, and 2 mortar tubes.
- Explosion in western Baghdad wounds three Soldiers MNF-I/MNC-I 06 Nov 2004 -- Three Task Force Baghdad Soldiers were wounded Nov. 6 at about 2:40 p.m., when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated on their convoy in western Baghdad.
- IRAQ/WRAP VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- At least 33 people died in multiple car bomb attacks in the Iraqi city of Samarra, while U.S. and Iraqi forces prepare for a major assault on insurgents in the city of Fallujah. And the U.S. military said 20 U.S. marines were wounded in the town of Ramadi.
- U.S. Bombards Al-Fallujah; Car Bombs In Samarra RFE/RL 06 Nov 2004 -- Ahead of an expected major assault on insurgents there, U.S. forces bombarded the rebel-held city of Al-Fallujah overnight, the heaviest air and artillery strikes on the city in months. While that assault appears imminent, insurgents struck in another Iraqi city, killing some 33 people in a series of car-bomb blasts in Samarra.
- Coalition Forces in Afghanistan Monitor Situation of Detention of U.N. Workers AFPS 06 Nov 2004 -- Coalition officials in Kabul, Afghanistan, today said that the coalition continues to monitor the situation involving the detention of three U.N. election workers: Shiqipe Habibi, Angelilto Nayan, and Anetta Flanigan.
- U.S./PAKISTAN, AFGHAN FORCES CONDUCT A HISTORIC COMBINED OPERATION CENTCOM 06 Nov 2004 -- Afghan, Pakistan and U.S. soldiers joined efforts to defend the Afghanistan town of Shkin when it came under rocket attack Nov. 3. Soldiers from these three nations conducted a coordinated attack against militant forces in the border region between Shkin, Afghanistan, and Wana, Pakistan.
- AFGHAN/PAKISTAN VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has personally congratulated Afghan leader Hamid Karzai on his victory in last month's presidential election. During a day-long trip to Kabul Saturday, the Pakistani leader said the two neighbors must increase cooperation in the war on terror to ensure success.

- Boeing Delta II Adds Another GPS Satellite to Air Force Constellation Boeing 06 Nov 2004 -- A Boeing [NYSE: BA] Delta II rocket successfully deployed a Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite to orbit today for the U.S. Air Force, marking the 61st consecutive successful mission flown aboard the Delta II.
- U.S. Air Force Successfully Launches Upgraded GPS Satellite Built By Lockheed Martin Lockheed Martin 06 Nov 2004 -- A Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT]—built Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite was successfully launched today by the U.S. Air Force from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. This was the 12th successful launch of the new-generation GPS IIR spacecraft.

- Conflict flares in Côte d'Ivoire prompting Security Council call for end to fighting UN News Centre 06 Nov 2004 -- Meeting in an emergency session after French forces in Côte d'Ivoire were attacked and the Ivorian Government stepped up air strikes against rebel-held areas in the north, the United Nations Security Council today called for an end to fighting in the West African country.
- COTE D IVOIRE: Army bombs French military, nine killed IRIN 07 Nov 2004 -- Ivorian government warplanes bombed a French military base on Saturday, killing nine peacekeepers and wounding 31 as Cote d'Ivoire's army continued its offensive on the rebel-held north for the third day.
- IVORY COAST VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- French forces battled late Saturday against the Ivory Coast military in Abidjan, while tens of thousands of people rampaged in the streets of the commercial capital. France decided to retaliate after a bombing raid by the Ivorian military in the rebel-held north on Saturday killed nine French soldiers and one American aid worker.
- UN/IVORY COAST VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- The U.N. Security Council has held an emergency session to condemn the killing of nine French troops and an American relief woker in Ivory Coast, Saturday. The council is also considering other measures, including an arms embargo.
- IVORY COAST / ATTACK VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- The Ivory Coast military has fired on French troops in the commercial capital, Abidjan, after French forces destroyed two Ivorian military planes. The Ivorian military has been carrying out raids in the rebel-held north, violating a cease-fire, and one of the attacks Saturday killed at least eight French peacekeepers and one American citizen. In New York, the U.N. Security Council is convening an emergency meeting on the situation.
- FRANCE/IVORY COAST VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- After suffering its biggest casualties since its peacekeeping operation began in Ivory Coast two years ago, France is stepping up pressure on Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo to cease all military action.The French government says it will hold Mr. Gbagbo personally responsible for maintaining public order.
- IVORY COAST / ATTACKS VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- French forces say they have destroyed two Ivory Coast army planes, after the Ivorian military intensified air raids in rebel territory Saturday, including a deadly attack on French peacekeepers. The French Defense Ministry said at least eight soldiers were killed and more than 20 injured.
- ARAFAT/PALESTINIANS VOA 06 Nov 2004 -- Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia has been meeting with rival factions in Gaza Saturday. The talks come as Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat remains in a coma in a military hospital outside of Paris, lingering between life and death.
