- DoD Announces Deployment Adjustments for Units in Iraq AFPS 30 Oct 2004 -- The Defense Department will keep about 6,500 experienced troops on the ground through the Iraqi elections, currently scheduled for Jan. 27.
- IRAQ/WRAP VOA 30 Oct 2004 -- In Iraq, the U.S. military says eight U.S. Marines were killed and nine wounded on Saturday. Also, seven people were killed and at least 16 wounded when a car bomb exploded outside the office of the Arabic television channel, al-Arabiyah, in Baghdad.

- Stennis CSG to Return Home Navy NewsStand 30 Oct 2004 -- The USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) Carrier Strike Group (JCS CSG) will return from a summer deployment to the Northern and Western Pacific Nov. 1, after spending five months operating at sea.

- RWANDA/DARFUR VOA 30 Oct 2004 -- More than 200 Rwandan troops are on their way to the war-torn western Darfur region of Sudan, where they will assume peacekeeping duties under the African Union.
- THAILAND / PRISONERS FREED VOA 30 Oct 2004 -- Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra ordered the release of at least 900 men, but officials plan to prosecute about 300 for their part in a violent demonstration on Monday. As Nancy-Amelia Collins in Bangkok reports, the government's efforts to halt the demonstration left more than 80 people dead in the Muslim-dominated south of the country.
- UN/LIBERIA REFUGEES VOA 30 Oct 2004 -- The U.N. refugee agency says its program to repatriate thousands of Liberian refugees after many years of exile is gathering momentum. The UNHCR says a first group of nearly 200 Liberian refugees is expected to return home Saturday from neighboring Guinea.
