Alfa Company, NMCB 74
Alfa Company is primarily responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of various types of equipment, also known as Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE). CESE is a term that encompasses automotive equipment (pickups, cargo trucks, blazers, etc.), mechanical construction equipment (bulldozers, front-end loaders, rollers, scrapers, graders, dump trucks, etc.), weight handling equipment (cranes), and material handling equipment (forklifts). In the spirit of the Seabee motto, "We Build, We Fight!", its equipment is specifically tailored to meet the many missions of the battalion and serves as the backbone to all our operations.
Comprised mainly of Equipment Operators and Construction Mechanics, Alfa Company also takes the lead for any project support requiring horizontal tasking, such as earthmoving, grading, excavation, paving, hauling, pile driving, well drilling, heavy lifting, blasting, and demolition. In a combat situation, Alfa Company serves the battalion as the Security Company. It has full responsibility for internal camp security, convoy security, and reactionary forces for supplemental defense. At the same time, it provides full support for equipment maintenance and operations.
