Alfa Company, NMCB 5
U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE, Alfa Company is primarily composed of two Seabee rates, the Equipment Operators (EO) and Construction Mechanics (CM) with a few support rates such as the Steel Workers (SW), Construction Electricians (CE) and one of the fleet rates, Machinery Repairman (MR).
Alfa Company EO's work on horizontal type construction projects that could vary and range from clearing for the construction of a soccer field to an advance base air field.
The CM's, SW's, and CE's perform all the scheduled maintenance and required repairs to keep the equipment in top running condition and sometimes under extreme condition that could range from the bitter cold of Antarctica to the scorching heat of the Saudi Arabian Desert. Seabee transportation and construction equipment comes in an assortment of sizes and capabilities.
