Bravo Company, NMCB 40

Bravo Company is undoubtedly the finest and most motivated group of Construction Electricians, Utilitiesmen, Builders, and Steelworkers in the NCF. Composed of 40 to 70 hard charging Seabees at any given time, the bulk of the rates are Construction Electricians and Utilitiesmen with a small accompaniment of builders and steel workers.

Taking about half of the Company's Construction Electricians and Utilitiesmen, the work force is combined with the Bravo's Builders and Steelworkers to form the Camp Maintenance Organization. This organization supports the Mainbody at all deployed locations with facilities support maintenance. This maintenance is normally categorized by Emergency Service Authorizations (ESA's), Standing Job Orders (SJO's), and the bigger Specific Job Orders (MCD's). These work loads are then normally distributed between the shops, one for each rate plus the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Shop composed of a Construction Electrician and three Utilitiesmen. In the field, the Camp Maintenance Organization is responsible for installing, maintaining, and eventually disassembling the Battalion's vast and complex electrical network, shower facilities, and galley leach field facilities in addition to many other support functions to include sometimes a security or react force.

The other half of the Company's Construction Electricians and Utilitiesmen are assigned to any of a number of projects at the Mainbody Site. Construction Electricians and Utilitiesmen serve as prime candidates for supporting most vertical construction projects. In addition, they will normally be the key force on Bravo Prime projects that involve a substantial amount electrical or water distribution systems. In the field, this part of Bravo Company will normally be part of the front line defense, but may also form a security or react force depending on the mission and the needs of the Battalion.

Normally, in preparation for and during deployment, a number of Bravo Company's Construction Electricians and Utilitiesmen are farmed out to detachments and DFT's from the Battalion to perform very similar functions to those listed above.
