Charlie Company, NMCB 24
On May 5-7, 2000 NMCB24's Charlie and Delta Companies hosted and participated in "Operation Squirrel Shoot" at Fort Knox, KY. Over 120 Seabees attempted to qualify on the 9mm pistol range and with the M-16 rifle. They also familiarized themselves with the M249G machine gun and the 12 gauge shotgun. Overall 113 out of 124 shooters qualified with the M-16, 56 of those personnel qualified as expert while 32 qualified as sharpshooter. Overall 101 of 133 shooters qualified on the 9mm, 25 of the 101 qualifiers earned the distinction of expert. EO2 Aaron Teets of Det 0924 and LTJG Charles Decker recorded perfect scores of 30 with the 9mm. Out of 111 shooters to record scores with both the M-16 and the 9mm only 11 qualified as expert on both weapons.
