Alfa Company, NMCB 133
Alfa company is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the automotive, construction and material-handling equipment assigned to the Battalion. ALFA Company also serves as the prime contractor for large earthmoving, grading, excavation, paving, hauling, pile driving, well drilling, heavy lifting, blasting, and demolition projects. For the Guam deployment ALFA company will complete three road repair projects and an erosion control project. In addition to these projects, ALFA will operate and maintain the mineral products plant while maintaining and repairing 308 pieces of equipment.
Alfa Company is currently composed of two platoons: the Equipment Operations Platoon and the Equipment Maintenance Platoon. Once deployed, we will be composed of three platoons: the Equipment Repair Platoon, the Projects/Transportation Platoon, and the Mineral Products Platoon.
The Equipment Projects/Transportation Platoon operates the automotive, construction and weight-handling equipment pools along with transporting personnel, equipment, and materials to and from the job sites. Members of this platoon also provide horizontal construction support for the Battalion.
The Equipment Repair Platoon maintains and repairs all the equipment assigned to the Battalion. The platoon is divided into repair shops: light shop, heavy shop, support shop and live storage. The light shop, is responsible for maintaining and repairing the automotive equipment. The heavy shop is responsible for maintaining and repairing the construction equipment. The support shop is comprised of the tool room, machine shop, steel and radiator shop, electrical shop, battery shop, paint shop, and tire shop. The Live Storage shop maintains and repairs all equipment in storage.
The Equipment Mineral Products Platoon operates and maintains all mineral product facilities for the Battalion. These are rock crushers and asphalt concrete batch plants. Personnel are also trained in blasting operations.
The largest and proudest of all the companies, ALFA Company is comprised mostly of Construction Mechanics (CM) and Equipment Operators (EO). There are also a few Hull Technicians (HT), Construction Electricians (CE), Steel Workers (SW), and Machinery Repairmen (MR) to enhance the capability of the company.
