Maritime Defense Zone Atlantic

The Commander, Maritime Defense Zone Atlantic plans for and, when directed, conduct, coordinate, and control operations in the area designated as the Maritime Defense Zone (MDZ), as required, in order to ensure the integrated defense of the area, to protect the Sea Lines of Communication (SLOC), and to establish and maintain necessary control of the vital sea areas, including ports, harbors, navigable waters, and offshore assets of the United States, exercising both statutory authority and naval command capability.
