Acquisition Center (AC)
The Acquisition Center (AC) provides C4IEWS acquisition support for CECOM/Fort Monmouth, including PEOs, program managers, the US Army Garrison and customers at Fort Huachuca, AZ, and in the Washington, DC area. The Center leads the acquisition community DoD-wide in streamlining procurement services and implementing innovative contracting processes.
The CECOM Acquisition Center is the premier Army leader in acquiring quality, technologically superior, next generation equipment and services in the shortest time for our warfighters while obtaining best value for the American taxpayer. It is a full service, life-cycle acquisition organization that is expert in market research as well as the solicitation, award and administration of contracts, grants, cooperative agreements and other transactions. The CECOM Acquisition Center has three convenient locations: Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, Alexandria, Virginia and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. It also maintains "Head of the Contracting Activity (HCA)" and Principal Assistant Responsible for Contracting (PARC)" responsibilities for acquisition activities located at Tobyhanna Army Depot, Pennsylvania; Fort Detrick, Maryland and the Fifth (5th) Signal Command located in Heidelberg, Germany.
The CECOM Acquisition Center provides a full spectrum of world class, quality acquisition services. Major commodities include aviation communications, man-portable radios, radar systems, computers, satellite communications, night vision equipment, command and control systems, sensors, information management systems, battery and power sources, intelligence/electronic warfare systems, mines/countermines, facilities supplies and a host of technical services that support its various customers' mission responsibilities. As of the end of fiscal year 2000, the CECOM Acquisition Center executed over fifty-four thousand (54,000) contract actions and obligated approximately $4.4 billion dollars.
The CECOM Acquisition Center supports a large number of CECOM organizations including, but not limited to; the Software Engineering Center (SEC), the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), the Systems Management Center (SMC), the Research & Development Engineering Center (RDEC), the Information Systems Engineering Center (ISEC) and the Army Signal Command (ASC). The CECOM Acquisition Center also supports a number of Program Executive Offices (PEOs) including, but not limited to; the PEO Command, Control and Communications System (PEO C3S), the PEO Intelligence and Electronics Warfare and Sensors (PEO IEWS), the PEO Standard Army Management Information Systems (PEO STAMIS). The CECOM Acquisition Center has also been successful in attracting new business from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the US Air Force (USAF), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other Department of the Army sponsored initiatives.
