Army Materiel Command-Forward Europe
Army Materiel Command-Forward Europe [AMC-FWD Europe] is located in Seckenheim, Germany. AMC-FWD EUROPE is a separate reporting activity (SRA) with the largest peacetime staff. AMC-FWD EUROPE area includes the European Command (EUCOM) AOR, which is Europe and parts of Africa. It currently is operating in support of operations in Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Macedonia. Another recent operation was conducted in Central Africa (Rwanda).
AMC - Europe enhances unit readiness through integrated application of AMC's CONUS-based logistics power projection capabilities to forward-based and deployed units within the European Theater of Operations. AMC - Europe accomplishes this mission by providing a single face to the field for AMC elements in Europe, integrating national level logistics support into the theater, filling logistics gaps with AMC technical capabilities, advising the ARFOR commander on AMC technical and logistics management capabilities, and tailoring our support based on tactical commanders' desires & METT-T.
Total Package Fielding (TPF) is the Army's standard fielding process. In 1984 the Army began using TPF on a test basis and made it the standard fielding process in 1987. It is designed to ensure thorough planning and coordination between the *Combat Developers/Trainers, the *Materiel Developers/Fielding Commands (MD/FC), and the gaining Major Army Commands and using units involved in the fielding of new materiel systems. At the same time, it is designed to ease the logistics burden on the using and supporting Army troop units.
In Germany, colocated with HQ AMC-Europe on Hammonds Barracks, is the Seckenheim Staging Activity (SSA) which is the central handoff site for COMSEC and other selected sensitive items. A few miles away, in Friedrichsfeld, is the large, modern, all-purpose Friedrichsfeld Staging Activity (FSA) which is the primary staging facility for communications and electronic systems. A third site, the Germersheim Staging Activity at Germersheim, GE, is the primary site for fielding vehicles, weapons, generators, troop support items, small arms, and Modification Work Orders (MWO). A fourth site is the Vilseck Staging Activity located at Rose Barracks. This site is used to field tracked and wheeled vehicles and other commodities destined for units in the Vilseck area.
